Default Um, how do I handle this spider bite?

Nasty little spider got me when I reached in to get the mail on Tuesday. I tried putting NeoSporan (sp) on it but it isn't touching it. It seems to be getting deeper. YIKES, it doesn't hurt at all but then again it does, does that make sense? Lucky for me, it is on my left hand, if they have to amputate, I will still have my dominant hand.

Did you get bit by a brown recluse?

Since the bite has ulcerated, I would go to the dr and get it checked out. I wouldn't wait too long as the ulceration may get worse causing more trouble.

Good luck, Earl and let us know how you are doing.

Default Thanks,

I should have mentioned, I did go to my neighbor's house, he is an ER doc and his wife is a paramedic. They said it was not a brown recluse, but another kind that is bad but not as bad.

They treated it with some topical stuff for one day, that got the poison out, they said to keep it uncovered unless I am sleeping. I am going back over this afternoon. He said it might get deeper and grosser but I shouldn't lose my finger. I am also on oral antibiotics for infection prevention.

Oh phew! I am glad to hear this! I didn't want to be an alarmist so I tried to be a little laid back about it. I was really, really worried.

Thanks for leaving out the minor details and giving my heart a great cardio workout.

Go to your doctor. See what they say. This can be serious stuff.

EEEEUUUUUU, that looks like a mighty big bite there. Take care of yourself.

A brown recluse on your head and another one bit off you finger. That's what I love about the desert..NOT!
