Default So Kitty...

Your weather forecast looks worse than mine! My cousin who lives in Atlanta went shopping and said that the shelves were being picked clean by people getting ready for the storm. Noting that the grocery store was out of bananas, she said "Who says 'there's a storm coming, we need to eat healthy'?"

It's snowing here right now. From what I'm hearing on the news/weather we're in for a rough few days. There's probably at least 3" out there now. It's snowing so hard you can barely see in front of you.

It wouldn't be so bad except that the temps are dropping and all this is freezing on the ground.

I went to the grocery on Saturday and stocked up on the essentials. I also got a few flashlights and plenty of batteries.

Schools are already announcing closings. The news just announced that I-85, a major Interstate through Atlanta, is closed (southbound, I think) going through Atlanta. I'm not sure of the accuracy of that because I'm only half listening as I type this.

Unless I lose power I'll give an update in the morning.

Wow.....here in my county we got about 5-6" of snow. It's sleeting right now. The temps this week range anywhere from 13 for a low to 38 for a high. So I don't think this mess is going anywhere for a while.

Most roads are impassable but that's not keeping some folks from trying. They're gonna get stuck and have to wait a l-o-n-g time for help to arrive. I wish people would just stay in unless it's truly an emergency.

The little feral kittens were all looking out the barn door this morning as if to say "what the heck happened to our yard?!". They're used to coming to the back porch to eat. I put lots of dry food and water in the barn last night. The water's probably frozen....I hope they're smart enough to eat some snow if they get thirsty!

DS didn't have to go to work this morning - thank goodness - because he would have tried if they'd have been open. Can't tell that boy anything. Now.....if one of the guys at work had said "hey, you'd better not try and drive in this mess" he'd have listened and stayed put.

Most of the interstates are impassable and some are even closed.

Three months till Spring!!!

My SIL works in lower NC at a grocery store and she said folks are plain old nuts when a flake of snow falls, let alone major stuff. They had a storm that dropped 9 inches, and now just got smacked again.

She said the shelves are bare. There is no fresh fruit, no soy milk, no almond milk, no whole grains and no healthy anything. She commented that big storms must bring out the vegans in town. She thinks no one would intentionally buy soy milk, but yet the shelves are bare! like it had hidden gold in the box.

She also wants to know why no one buys a snow shovel till it starts snowing. Doesnt everyone have at least one buried deep in the back of the shed? is it just easier to buy a new one, than search for the old one? She cant believe the amount of snow shovels she has rung up this week.

I don't own a snow shovel. Maybe I'll buy one after all this mess is over and just keep it in the garage.

The grocery stores were down to the bare minimum on Saturday when I went. I try to buy things that can be eaten without cooking or heating up......like peanut butter, bread, packets of tuna, granola bars, etc. It's just me and DS here so I don't need to overstock. I did buy some purified water but doubt I'll need to use it.

I have plenty of cat food, coffee and toilet paper so I'm good for at least a week!
