I haven't posted anything about my drama filled life in a while so here is some entertainment for the day (just kidding, it's not really all that entertaining
![]() I'm in the process of moving out of a rental house I've been in for one year. The landlords are inconsiderate idiots. I pay a freakin' fortune for this place but they act like we are their caretakers ![]() According to landlord/tenant law and my lease the owners of this property have the right to attach a lockbox to the house and show the house with 12 hours notice (that includes leaving a voicemail for me) whether anyone is home or not. I have no say in the matter. They know I have MS and that my son and dh have Crohn's. They don't care. I've had process servers come to my door looking for them for unpaid debts ![]() I have cats and these people come in here and leave doors open to the outside without giving it a second thought. I have to make sure someone is home to follow the cretins around. Yesterday morning we had to call 911 for my 20 year old son, Jake. He has Crohn's disease. He started projectile vomiting, had a fever and severe abdominal pain. He couldn't even stand long enough for my husband and me to get him in the car. After we got to the er and had my son in good hands I called the agent for this house to let her know what was happening and that she needed to cancel appointments for the day. She told me that I was really "inconveniencing her"!!!! I said fine, you just go right ahead bring prospective tenants to see and smell my dirty litterbox, unmade beds, and a pile of laundry 3 feet high. I told her I only cared about my son and didn't give a s@it how about she felt and slammed down the phone. Of course I was bawling my eyes out at that point because I had reached my breaking point for the day. At 3 pm my older son called me from home and said there were people there to see the house ![]() ![]() Back to the er story now....They pump Jake full of dilaudid and get his pain under control. He had some x-rays and a ct scan with contrast to see what's happening in there. They needed a urine sample but he was so out of it he couldn't pee in a cup until about 2 hours later. When Jake gave me the urine sample I freaked. Even to my untrained eye it looked abnormal. It was nearly brown and I know that means blood. ![]() After an eternity we get the test results back and everything looks normal so that rules out a Crohn's flare. ![]() ![]() Finally, Jake says a couple of months ago he peed out a stone and it didn't hurt!!! He then says his pee has looked brown for a few days. He thought it was from drinking too much Dr. Pepper ![]() Apparently his Crohn's medication, mercaptopurine, can cause kidney stones. Today we are taking him to see the gastro doc to get his med changed. He's taking Cipro (and pain meds as needed) until we get him to the urologist on Tuesday. I slept for only four hours last night. I don't function well on less than 7 so I feel like a sack of you know what. Believe it or not I am leaving out some other stuff that happened because this rant is already too long. Thank goodness nt censors me or you would know how foul mouthed I really am ![]() Geez, that felt good to get all that out ![]()

![]() Even without a realtor hot on your tail, this time would be stressful. Please take ONE day at a time. There are benefits to your current landlord selling. #1 it seems that they are really irresponsible and inconsiderate, and not in control of their own finances. #2 selling the house would stop the showings. #3 maybe the new landlord will be able to help you with things that the old one couldnt/wouldnt. Make a safe room for the cats to be tucked into for when the showing is coming. Even if that means they get tucked into a carrier for the hour that its happening. Throw a towel or blanket over the cage so they are in a cave. They like that. If you pop them into a room that has their water/food/litter in it, this will prevent them from running under foot with strangers. its very stressful on animals to have strangers in and out of the home. Put a sign on that door to Keep closed or keep cats IN that room please. Its best to try to make friends with this awful realtor. I know your instinct is to scratch her eyes out, but if you can get her more sympathetic, perhaps she will be more reasonable about showing up. If Voice mail is an acceptable way to contact you for the 12 hours, then...unhook the VM from the phone! This will force them to have to speak to you personally. If there is no way to leave a message, they must find another way. Be VERY nice to her, and try to engage her on her level. i know you want to bump her with your car, but it will only make it worse to make her your enemy. Ask her things like "i know you are working hard to sell this place (a compliment to her) are there things I can do to make it easier? Were there comments on things that can be corrected? (this makes her think you want to help her, even if you have no intentions of doing any of it.) Take care of YOUR family. If that means unmade beds, or dirty litter...then leave a note explaining your situation on the counter, and beg for understanding. I bet most folks she is showing this house to are not as intolerant as she is. Come here and vent it really does help. ![]()

I can't really add to what Dej has said. Good advice.
As hard as it may be to befriend the realtor it really is probably the best thing to do for you. My only concern would be the cats. As long as they are safe and contained in a room the rest of the house can wait. I think most folks realize that people are trying to live there while the landlord is trying to sell it so they understand the occasional messy room. I hope Jake feels better. ![]()

I've already tried to befriend this realtor. Doesn't make a bit of difference. They aren't selling this house they are renting it out again. The agent knows that I have proof of faulty air conditioning (a receipt and dx of the ac unit being too small for the house). It won't go below 82 degrees in the summer. I walked around with ice packs on me last summer. They wouldn't let me out of the lease even when the knew the adverse effect it would have on my health.
I used to be a realtor back when I lived in PA so I know how to "talk the talk" when comes to real estate people. This woman is just unbelievable. Jake is at the gastro right now. He sent me a text to get him a pain pill ready for when he gets home ![]() I also learned that kidney stones are a somewhat common problem with Crohn's patients. I hope this is a one time thing for him. Thanks everyone ![]()

Hugs to you Joelle. I'm really sorry about everything going on all at once. I don't have any advice, but I do hope things look up soon.

joellelee that is awful what they are putting you all through. I would only worry about your family, yourself and your fur-babies. Let the landlord go to the devil along with the RE agents.
I hope you get to move soon to a great place that works for you and your family. With A/C that works too and a real nice landlord. ![]() Most important is your families health and yours. I hope and pray that Jake feels better soon and his pain goes away. There is also a stomach virus going around so all be careful, okay? I hope Jake's kidneys are in good shape. I wonder why he didn't feel the stone? I have passed some that went clink in the china bowl, but I thought men feel stones more than women. I just heard mine. Some can be tiny like sand and still cause blood on the way out. All good advice above. Take care and rant anytime. We listen and we care. ![]()

I am sorry your family is experiencing such an upset, along with people who are not showing you compassion. Some people are not able to be compassionate, they lack that altogether. Apparantly the person who is showing the place is one of those people. Maybe you should ask her point blank, where her compassion when to. That might be a sentance she is not expecting. YOu can also say it with love, and confuse her even more. Set an example if you can and show her what she looks like doing that to a family. ginnie
