That lady on the show last night bought 97 packages of lunch meat! 97! Who on earth can eat all that? And who would want to? It's full of nitrates and preservatives. Yuck! That's one deal I'd walk away from.

Oh, ICK!

Sounds like a food hoarder! Unless donated! Maybe she freezes it? But still running a freezer is not inexpensive either.

I call that kind of coupon buying, an Addiction and of no use to anyone, including charities.

Default On my way

I have a spreadsheet written. I have envelopes with categories, I met with my friend who does it, once I get today's mailings I will add to it. I also have about 5 newspapers to go through. it's truly like a job but if it saves me money, it's ok.

Laura says my OCD is taking over with this.

We are planning a shopping trip for next Monday, I plan on getting not only for me but for my church's food bank. CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Went shopping today.
Hit 4 different stores.
Bought $400.00 worth of groceries and supplies.
Used $149.75 worth of coupons.
At one store a woman behind me asked if I was one of those extreme couponers.
I said "No Ma'am. I just buy what's on sale, compare prices before I shop, save every coupon I get that I personally can use and when the fates align I have a good shopping day."
Today was a good shopping day! When I was done, the cat machine spit out almost $50.00 worth of coupons!
Bad things that happened-one coupon was rejected, expired yesterday...and I forgot to scan my stupid store card and missed out on $$$ back on my total order...

I took my coupons, saw what was on sale, and had my list. Found some in store coupons while I was there. $276.45 pre coupons. $97.58 after. I noticed the cashier didnt take 2 coupons off the meat that would have taken another $2 off the total, but I can take the reciept back with the coupons and they will take care of it at the desk.

It was mind blowing exhaustion. a ton of work to prep my list, gather my coupons, watch every sticker. and then at the check out line to keep a good eye on the checker. I came home and slept 3 hours! It can be done, and I suppose if I was better and faster at it, i could have saved more, but im not sure I have what it takes to climb into that pool of exhaution. I also noticed many coupons are for pre packaged stuff which we dont eat. I was able to find milk coupons and got $1 off my lettuce purchase. nice finds.

Thumbs up

Wow, Dej! That's fantastic! How on earth did you do that? Since I've started eating more fresh things and non-processed foods I've found that most of my coupons are just for cleaning products and personal products. Every now and then I'll find a coupon for something organic or fresh but not often.

Default Pay it forward!

I get a lot of coupons that I can't or won't use.....like some of the products mentioned in your posts.
What I do it clip them anyway and leave them in the store on top of the product the coupon is used for.
I get a kick out of knowing that I may have given someone else a nice surprise
I figure the store carries the product because SOMEBODY buys the stuff......so I leave a coupon and hope to make someone feel a little light hearted even if its only for a brief moment.

Wink

A very thoughtful and generous act!

Just 3 weeks ago, my friend who makes quilts and I were at Joann's fabrics. We were picking out some cloth for her to make me some placemats for upNorth. I found a wonderful fabric with dragon flies, hummingbirds, and flowers on it just like we have up there. But it was EXPENSIVE. So I just picked it anyway...for this nice custom project.

We waited in line, and didn't have the weekly 40% off coupon with us...but the lady ahead of us, who was listening to our conversation, I suppose, didn't use hers at the register, and turned around and gave it to us! 40% off $19.99 was a good deal. We both laughed and cheered and thanked her profusely!

Even the sales clerk was happy for us!
