I played the Cello in 4th grade so badly my Mom punished my brothers once by making them listen to me practice!! DS can play any instrument he picks up (Banjo, Keyboard, Harmonica, etc.) and the guitar. He's so good on guitar, his HS teacher called us to tell us he was wonderful. DH is woefully adequate at guitar. DS an angel.

:D Well I never learned to play it well, but I took piano lessons for 5 years. I did attempt the pump organ at church... poor old thing sounded bad with whomever played it! The old country church was not an ideal location for it..uncontrolled heat/cold/humidity.

I attempted guitar as well. The guitar I used, belonged to my grandpa. He bought it for $12 from a Sears catalog in 1934. :cool: Wish I still had it!

The piano I had was an old upright. In it's hay-day it had the old self-playing roller inside. It was converted sometime in the late 1940s just before my grandparents bought it for my aunt. It took 8 men to move that thing from my grandparents home to our home. In the late 1990's my mom gave it to a little church that still uses it!

I still play around with a electronic keyboard I bought about 10 years ago. I'm not coordinated enough to actually play well, but still can pick out a few chords and tunes.

Good thread. I think I remember having one like it before, maybe that was a different forum.

6th grade - Coronet

1-8th grade Piano (7,8th grade Organ too)

High school Alto Sax and Violin (I told my dad I loved Sax and Violin's (say it quickly and you'll get it)... I fell in love with the sax when I saw St. Elmo's Fire (my favorite movie) and the violin when I heard Charlie Daniels play "the devil went down to GA". but man it didn't take long to realize I would NEVER be able to play like him. I kept it up because I like country music and there's a place in country bands for violin. I never got into a band but wanted to.

Adult still kept up with the piano and started the harmonica (which I still lay and love).

I have an ear for music and can play anything I hear once on the radio on at least on the piano. I thought about picking up a cheap trumpet but am happy with the harmonica.

I played second violin for 3 years, then first violin for 3 years. I was in two different school orchestras. I played at both of my graduation, commencement ceremonies. I would have rather sat with my friends instead of on stage to receive my diplomas.

I loved to play. I found it very relaxing. I also played the electric keyboard. But my MS right hand tremor, made me hit the wrong key every time I stretched my long fingers. It made me so mad I gave it away. :cool:

Even when I type, my one hand is faster than the other, and I make many typo's.

I rather listen to music on the radio or blast my stereo. I'm bad. ;) I don't like buds in my ears.

I played classical piano for several years. My first teacher was elderly, but really knew how to teach...
she became ill with cancer and was quickly on her death bed. She managed to call my mom and begged her not to let me quit..."She has quite a bit of talent..."
I managed to play for a few more years, but lost interest...now the poor piano sit unused, and DH refuses to get rid of it..."It reminds me of what you used to do":(:(

All this is in the past tense for me but I still listen to recorded music.

I began with piano at age 6 and took lessons for about 12 years. In high school I sang in the chorus and played cello in the orchestra. We played for graduations and gave concerts. (We weren't very good.)

Living in a small town as a child, I was somehow able to play the organ in a church on Sunday for a while because they needed organ music and had nobody on tap who was an organist. They figured I could do it since I played piano. So I did.

I sang in a number of choirs and choruses for years. Since MS came along I gave up on singing and the piano but learned to play the recorder and spent many happy hours with my two recorders.

I recently sold them but am glad I was able to play them for some years.

My parents were both choral singers, and my mother played the piano. My sister played cello, one brother played violin, one played bass viol--all were in school orchestras.

Earl - I'm not sure if we've had this thread before but it is fun.

With all us "musicians" we could start an MS band/orchestra. Now, what could we call it . . .Myelin Gone Wild?:p

Doesn't matter what name we choose for the band, we'll all forget it anyway. :confused:
