I hesitate to tell how much I pay for cable/phone/internet but maybe if I do it would tell you why my ire is so escalated. I pay $239 PER MONTH for poopy service! I have ALL the movie channels, and the fast internet or so they say! Because I was dx with MS the DH asked what he could do to make my life easier. I said give me the faster internet and some cable movie channels so I dont have to wait on netflix. So, he called up and said "give me ALL the movie channels" and so they did. It wasnt long after that they changed hands and Comcast took over for Adelphia and it all hit the fan. The phone went to a VOIP or a voice over internet protocol. Its CRUD! its constantly cutting me off, it has a horrible quality and I miss my regular old land line. The internet is supposed to be fast fast fast, but too many days I sit and click a button to have to wait for 45 to 60 seconds for my page to load. Dial up is faster! Forget the TV, its out more than its in. Pixelated, frozen channels, or that bar that says "one moment please. this channel should be available shortly" UGH! I am tired of bad service at a premium price.

Yes, I could do Dish, but if I am going to leave, I would prefer to bundle. Neighbors had Dish out here, and they hammered his dish to a TREE! we are way out in the boonies and signals are hard to get here. We face two mountains and are in a bowl, and signals pass over us easily. They had horrible issues with picture quality and were thrilled to bits when their year was up. Since they are 2 houses away, I dont want to repeat the signal issue.

Im frustrated, aggrevated, and I dont feel good today. I just want to turn something on and have it work! just like it sez on the box! click...tada! there ya go, but no...I have to deal with bad tech after bad tech. UGH!

I have Comcast and I think it is very expensive. I have digital cable with one HDTV cable box, no additional premium channels, computer hook up and no phone service...we use our cell phones only. The bill is aroung $150 each month.

in our area we have Insight and WOW. We had Insight for a good amount of time and changed to WOW because of what they offered us. Basically we have had good luck with it. Last year we had a lot fo problems with it digitalizing and they worked hard at my daily insistence to fix it. The guy who finally got it done finally told me that there are three levels of technicians that come out to your house and told me how to get around that. They also gave me my DVR free for 2 years. Several months ago Insight was really offering a fantastic deal so we called them and they were going to have to tear out a wall in our family room to put their wiring!!! So no high def for me. So I pay, including taxes and fees about $110/month for WOW. The DVR is an extra $10/month which we are getting free. That's for my high speed internet with wifi, phone with free unlimited long distance and all the bells and whistles. The cable does not include any premiere movie stations. It's all we need, maybe because we have never had anything else to compare it to. My Mom and sis have Insight and there are a lot of service calls.

If they hammered the dish to a tree, I am not surprised they had signal problems. The dish has to be pointed at the satellite quite accurately, and even big trees sway and twist slightly when the wind blows. Not surprising that if the tree was moving, the dish would lose the satellite.

that is another issue I have with living in NH, it seems like service folks are sloppy! they do half baked work, for first rate prices. They do crazy things like hammer your sateliite dish to a tree, or forget to put batteries in your modem, so that when the power goes out, you have NO phone.

Another issue I have is that I live on a wonderful lake front street, but my house ISNT lake front. We are a normal little ranch. Folks turn onto our street, and the estimate triples. Then they start quoting all of these fees, and regs and specs and ARGH! That is IF you can get a contractor to show up. We tried for 2 years to get someone to show up to build our deck. We finally gave up and built it ourselves. Yep, see Tuesday at noon. no one shows, no one calls. or the ever famous "let me look up some prices, and get back to you." then you never see um again.

I am fed up with being treated badly. TV isnt brain surgery! its just TV! we have been providing cable TV to homes for decades now, and we should be better at it than this. We have had DSL for decades now in many towns, and cities, why cant we have DSL on MY street?

Some of the techs show up to my home and updo what the last guy does, and then say, well, youre all set! and the next tech tears apart what this guy did and sets it back to the original position. Thar ya go, its all set! dont they keep notes?

We used to pay $189 for our package, but it expired a few months ago, and each time I call they say something about no other packages out there, and how we are in tier 2 of a 2 year promotional package. Well, gee they only said ONE year at that price, and then we could pick a new package. What happened to Joe that you fired a year ago who gave us our package?

im tired of the run around. When you turn the key in your car, it should turn over. When you click on the TV it should just turn on. I should not have to know this much about how cable works, because I have had so many techs to my house!

Well crappy service from Time Warner (aka Comcast) is why I can tell you to the day when we became Dish customers. TW was supposed to be there the day we moved in to hook up the cable...and just didn't show up. No call to say sorry we are backed up, no request to reschedule. They just never showed.

So I called around 6pm and they offered to reschedule me for the next day. No apology, no excuse for why they never showed. So I picked a 8am to noon time slot the next morning. At noon I when they hadn't showed and hadn't called, I called them back and said don't bother, then called Dish network. Dish made it out the same afternoon and I have never looked back.

Now every time Comcast calls to try to get me to switch, I just tell them that I have a VERY long memory for crappy customer service and XX years (13 now) is too soon for me to give them another chance.

We have Comcast here, I read that they were one of the top 10 most hated companies. But my friends haven't had luck with Dish either so, I just stick with the devil I know.

This is a great story about an old gal that got fed up a few years back. I wish I had her spunk.

I have Mediacom for internet, Dish network for TV, and put my landline number on my Verizon Wireless cell phone bill with the "Home Phone Connect" thingie that allows you to use a cordless phone like a landline and keep your number.

If you're interested in one of those, send me a PM and I'll give you my cell so we can talk about how it works. It's pretty darn nifty!
