Default Grim Reaper check in- Amy Winehoise dead at 27.

I didn't know much about her, never listened to her music. All I knew of her was how she was always strung out. What a waste, any loss of life is a waste.

Not all that surprised. More surprised it took her this long.

The newscaster said that the music world was "stunned". Really? It's very, very sad that anyone would just throw her life away, and tragic that she couldn't/wouldn't get the help she needed. The clip of her standing there hugging herself as she was booed offstage...she looked about 13.

But stunned? No.

I asked my DS if he had heard that she had died. He said no, but he wasn't surprised and thought it would have happened before now.

I was reading the story to my mom earlier. My mom asked what I thought killed Amy Winehouse. I was like, it's Amy Winehouse, you can be pretty sure it was drugs or alcohol or both that killed her. The cause of death wont be a surprise. Maybe the type of drug will be a surprise. I wont be surprised to find out that her heart just gave out or something from all the crap she's ingested/snorted/injected into herself.

Think I'm a bit too old to have listened to any of her music other than what might have been played as background music on a tv show somewhere. What I've heard of her music, hasnt impressed me at all.

I think we need to wait for the tox reports from the autopsy.

Amy was diagnosed with COPD from her crack use. It is possible she could have lung damage enough combined with overuse of inhalers (common) to have had a severe congestive bronchospasm which is known to kill people suddenly (often young people). There was a model not too long ago who died from overuse of Primatene mist OTC.

The asthma inhalers can be quite deadly if used incorrectly.
Use of recreational drugs, could impair her memory and she could easily overuse an inhaler as a result.

Her autopsy may likely show the drug abuse as well.

It's so sad when anyone that young dies. I don't believe she left any children behind. I really feel for her family.

I agree that it isn't a shock either.

Apparently London Ambulance Service found her dead yesterday 4pm in the afternoon my time (English time). The news travelled quickly as by about 4:30pm it was already all over the news.

In the last month before her death she was all over the news for her health declining. She was going to concerts and throwing microphones at people, coming on stage drunk etc. So sad and I feel soo sorry for the people that paid good money to see her!

Everyone blames her drug addiction on her ex husband. I don't feel that sorry for her, she could have said no ... it's just such a shame she ended up dieing so young as she was really talented.

Frown Not a surprise, still so sad.

I'm sorry, maybe I shouldn't intrude here, I don't belong in this community, but I saw the subject & no one else seems to be talking about it.

I saw the news come up on a feed some 10 minutes after someone found her body, and I thought, "How sad." Just that: how very very sad.

She was mostly a blues & jazz singer & wrote much of her own material. I thought there was a lot of talent there. More & more, of course, the talent & everything else was blurred by alcohol & drugs.

I think so many artistic types are plagued by a lack of self-worth. When they do "make it" in the real world of their art, they end up in a business world they don't comprehend, end up all too often being used by people who have no regard for them as people, & a dead body is sometimes where it all ends. No more lights-show-music.

And it's more than sad, really. The world lost a young woman who had more fears than insight, who was clearly too unstable for such an unstable career path, & who has now died a death that * everyone * apparently--including me & most of you--fully expertly her to die.

In any context but show biz, that might be called suicide. At least that's what I call it.
