Does any MSers have problems with a change in weather? Especially the coming of thunderstorms. Right now my walking is terrible. When the dew point is high I begin to have balance problems. Storms today and possible for Wednesday. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to handle. I just stay inside but there are times I need to go outside.

In the winter, there were a few times when a big snowstorm was coming, that I'd start to feel either sick, or wobbly, or more numb. Not sure if it was the stress of knowing a snowstorm was coming, or a real MS thing that was causing it.
I really do not like snow anymore. I love thunderstorms, but yes, I have noticed that when a big storm (like severe t-storms or tornadoes) is brewing, I'll feel weird in the MS symptoms. Just depends on which symptom is feeling sensitive to the weather/barometric pressure change.

Hi, welcome to the community!
Yes, I also notice a difference, particularly with imbalance and weakness when the weather changes for the worse. I don't notice it as much when the weather clears. I mostly handle it by trying to anticipate problems, and I always use a cane when I'm out and about.

Yes, I notice big differences in my balance and walking when the barometric pressure changes. Also when it storms or is especially humid. I feel like a walking weather vane.

I was feeling ok when I left for the grocery stores, but as I got inside and got rocking, a HUGE storm started to come in. As it grew closer, my stomach turned, my legs wobbled, and i simply couldnt think. I was yelled at outside by a stranger who thought me unable to defend myself till I puked on his shoes! So, yeah...storms seem to affect me. lol ten minutes later it was hailing here.

Yes. I notice a huge change (not for the best either).
I usually feel downright awful about 30 minutes to 1 hour before the storm 'hits'. My main MS symptoms are pain in the head (for the longest time, I thought I was just having really bad headaches) and Trigeminal Neuralgia (more specifically), but I also have nerve damage to my mouth (burning mouth syndrome) and all the above 'flare up' come a storm. It's dreadful...and we have a storm incoming tomorrow.

I don't have any problems with storms but welcome to our family. I have loved thunderstorms ever since I was a small child. I have taught my children and then they taught their children to love them!

I had my worst experience with weather in just the past couple weeks. The dewpoints moved up into the mid 80s, which was compared to the Brazilian rain forest....and I live in Mn! I didnt step one foot outside, but even the air conditioning didnt help. I couldn't eat anything, and even drinking water was hard for me too.
I woke up in the middle of the night two weeks ago, feeling nauseous and thought I would get sick.... once I got to my bedroom door, I lost my sense of balance & coordination and slammed into a couple door jams before I ended up face down in the hallway! I have never had that happen before! I must have layed on the floor 10 or so mins before crawling back to my bed. It was very scary...over the next few days, bruises kept showing up. Both my shoulders and kneecaps turned purple! I still have rug-burn scabs on my elbows too. Weather is still touchy here....but better than it was. I dont ever recall having such oppressive weather in mn....we get into low 100s, but this was crazy! I dont know how I could have prepared myself....since it had to have been the barametric pressure!

I don't have MS, but the nice people here let me stay. I do have fibro, and am extremely sensitive to low pressure systems. I know if it will rainbefore the weather guys. About all I can do is take a flexeril, or Vicuprofen. And have a nap.
There is a tropical system, Emily , that may pass over Fl. I hope not! But pass the pain pills just in case!
