Disappointing. Rain rain rain, some wind, a few trees cracked and down across the street, but ...so far...extremely mild for a hurricaine. We expect the eye about 2 pm to pass over us, and then the winds from the back side, so lets see if that helps. I hear they are going to down grade her to a Tropical storm now. I made all of these preparations, and so far we are all glued to looking out the window, and nothing is happening.

I kind of thought everyone would be relieved that the storm had weakened. Some of you sound almost disappointed that there wasn't more to it. I think I'd feel relieved and thankful that there was no more damage and death.

I think its that you spent so much prep time. Checking your lists twice, double baking to have extra food on hand, storing up water, ice, and checking generators, and property lines, and moving the camper...it was work to get ready for this storm, only to have it be nothing more than a rainy day. Every channel has "storm coverage" and hypes it like it was the worse disaster in 20 years...blah! I worked really hard, and while I am happy there is no damage, there was also no excitement. DS missed a day of work, DH missed an event he looked forward to all year, and I missed out on church because they didnt have any due to the storm.

So, while I am very happy that so little damage is done, its almost anti climatic...does that make sense?

I agree with Dej. Not that I am not happy we were bypassed. But the time and money spent on the preparations along with hurting myself more than once moving stuff and picking up propane, I expected it to be worse than the usual angry thunderstorms that hit here. So yes, in a sense I am disappointed that I didn't get to play with all of my new stuff. I know it sounds silly.

For me, the less excitement the better. I'd be happy to throw away my expired batteries every couple of years. We are expecting the heaviest winds between now and around 8. 35,000 homes without power...sounds like a small number, but remember this is Vermont.

We take the plywood back to Home Depot. Anything else that can't be returned, I keep, then use after hurricane season.

We really didn't prepare. No damage but electric has been off until Early Monday morning. Man, it gets dark after sunset! Only had fragrance candles - brownie, Citrus Sage, Lavender Lemon and does my house smell interesting now. Dogs got bored so play fought over a certain toy. Went to bed 9:30, woke at @12:30 AM, can't get back to sleep now.

Just watched GMA and saw the massive flooding in upstate NY and Vermont. And they're saying the worst is yet to come in the northern areas of these states.

My prayers are with those who are dealing with this terrible natural disaster. All the rescue teams that are out there in dangerous conditions - risking their own lives for folks they don't even know but will literally swim through a flood to save them. God bless those men and women.

B2Y.....I couldn't help but think of you and your DH this morning as I watched the 100+ year old covered bridge collapse in Vermont. I pray you are safe.

I've prayed for all the pets that might possibly get left behind because they couldn't be found. Poor scared little things.

I hope that all those who still have power will check in and let us know you're alright. Just breaks my heart to see all of this.
