I'm jumping on the band wagon early for entirely practical reasons. The husband has been extremely nice lately (he's terrified that he'll have to pay me support after we divorce) so I have to take advantage of this while I can .

I was reading the thread about the senior discount and thought of Erin and her habit! She needs to save all the money she can to support this habit.

Went to get pizza tonight with my parents, and my dad said we needed two senior drinks and one "grownup" drink. The girl charged us for three senior drinks instead. (59 cents! instead a $1.29/drink) We got a deal!

Also went out for bagels this morning, my dad gave me the money to pay for the bagels for him so he could sit down, and when I was handing back the bills, I asked him if I could keep the coinage. (67 cents) My dad let me keep it. YAY!

I'm reconsidering getting the Kindle Fire, and am looking at the Kindle Touch. I like both (want both!) but now I'm wondering which would be more useful to me. I hope that Amazon will start selling them at WalMart and Target, because I'd like to look at one of them before I buy another Kindle this time around.

Erin I'm leaning toward the Kindle touch also. The reviews I read said it's very responsive so maybe I won't have difficulty. For the price difference between that and the Kindle, there are better features.

I do have a question and maybe you can answer it for me. What else besides downloading and reading books can you do on the Kindles?

I havent seen the Kindle Touch yet, so I'm not sure what other features it'll have. That one has the touch screen, so you dont need to use buttons or a keyboard to do stuff. It'll have a keyboard built into the screen.

I know there are games that you can play on the Kindle. I have some solitaire games on mine, and you can download audiobooks from Audible to the Kindle. (never tried that before, but I think you can do it over Wifi) So, aside from reading books on them, you can listen to a book too.

The Kindle Fire is going to be a tablet. Similar to an iPad, but it'll play Flash video, so probably a bit more useful than the iPad is for watching video online.

The eInk Kindles (basically every Kindle but the Kindle Fire) can browse the internet with a very basic browser. Kind of klunky to use, but it's doable.

The Kindle Fire, as far as I know, should be able to do most of what the iPad does, but is several hundred dollars cheaper. I think I want the Kindle Fire, but since I dont have the money to get one yet, I'm going to wait and see what others think about it before getting one. I'm either going to be getting the Kindle Fire, or the Kindle Touch. (I already have an iPad, so not sure if I'd use the Kindle Fire...it does look really cool tho!)

Get the Galaxy 10.1 4G on Verizon and you'll have the best of all. It has a Kindle app and you'll always have the best service. I have one and I love it. It blows the rest away.

Now we're talking money $500/600. . Not all of us get discounts.

Where have you been and how are you, dear Wiz?

I'd love a Galaxy, but not affordable to me at all. At least the Kindle Fire could be somewhat attainable to me if I'm good about saving my money. I can probably save up enough to get a Fire within the next 6 months if I'm a good girl and dont go nuts buying other stuff. (selling some of my other gadgets that I'm not using at all might get me there quicker.)

Thanks for the info Erin. I don't want anything like the Kindle Fire, definitely not an ipad (I could just use hubbies when he's at work if I did), and have been fighting an ereader for a while. Now I would like an ereader but want all the details so I make an informed choice. Still leaning toward the Kindle Touch. It take me forever to make decisions!!

I'm leaning towards the Kindle Touch too, even tho I would LOVE to have the Kindle Fire. I want both actually, but I wont be able to afford both, and since I already have an iPad, I'd probably do better getting the Touch...and the Touch is cheaper than the Fire.
