I found a review for the most recent Kindle to be released. (pretty sure this is the $79 Kindle that I think is the only one of the new Kindles that are immediately available...think the others come out on Nov 15th) The $79 Kindle is available now, so people are starting to leave reviews of them.

I found this one on a Kindle forum I go to

It's a pretty good review. Gave me a lot of information.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MSCq9...ayer_embedded#!

One of the things I was surprised to find out is that the $79 Kindle doesnt have an audio player, so no speakers...I guess that means no Text-to-speech either... (deal breaker for me...not getting the $79 Kindle)

I had to go look up to see if the Kindle Touch has Text-To-Speech. It can play Audible files, so I'm assuming it has the TTS, but havent confirmed that. Kindle Keyboard (originally called Kindle 3) still has the TTS, but the Kindle Fire does NOT have TTS.

So far, I'm glad I cant afford a new Kindle yet. I'm learning information that's helping me decide which one I might want to get. I may end up waiting till something happens to my current Kindle before I get another one.

I don't get equipment discounts only service! It is a superior product though and I've done my homework!

Wiz, would it take the place of a computer and Kindle? And can you make the print bigger?

(selling some of my other gadgets that I'm not using at all might get me there quicker.)

You can get a keyboard and dock it in the keyboard. The nice thing is, you can take the galaxy tab with you around the house and it's light weight so if you sit in your favorite chair it's light in your lap. It's good for web browsing and games. It's very easy to use for most things but if you need to compose long documents you will definitely want to consider the keyboard. You can zoom in on text but not as big as a large screen monitor, but then again, you can use it most anywhere, unlike your desktop computer and monitor.

I have a bluetooth keyboard that my aunt gave me for my iPad, but I'm actually using that keyboard for my iMac computer. I havent had a problem typing on the iPad on screen keyboard.

Talked to my boyfriend tonight. The guy who hates Apple computers. The guy who picks on me for liking Apple products and my collection of Kindles wants to buy an iPhone when Sprint gets them this week (doh! if my cellphone had only died a week later, I'd have an iPhone and not an Android!)

AND...he wants a Kindle Fire!

Resistance is futile! He's been assimilated!

If I were on a fixed income and not working for a tech company, I would scale down and be my normal cost-concious self. But since I sell these products, I own lots of them. I WILL however, always have a smart phone and tablet now that I know how convenient and fun they are! I remember how I used to say that I would go without groceries before I'd give up high speed internet. It's like that. I would never go back to a flip phone OR dial up internet.

Sorry for changing the topic but I wanted to 'splain myself. I really can relate to all of you in money matters.

That said, there are lots of low priced tablets out there and the Kindle Fire looks pretty good but I would wait for it to be released and see what the user reviews are!

I just got an actual smartphone. I had one before, but it was 3yrs old and basically was a StupidPhone compared to my new phone. (HTC Evo 4g. $24 at Sam's Club. Old phone killed itself earlier that day)

I dont ever want to go back to the old basic flip phones either. I'm having too much fun with my new one. It has a flashlight and can play music...and it makes phone calls too! (way better reception)

of course, getting the new phone reduced my new Kindle budget by a bit. But, I had to have a new phone.

Ewizabeth...I'm like you. I'd do without groceries to keep my internet on.

If I am ever let go for being an expensive employee I will know how to keep my gadgets at a low cost. And I can advise the rest of you here how to do so as well. But it seems like you have a pretty good grasp on that already.
