Red face Halloween Candy!

How many here get lots of Trick or Treaters on Halloween?

What kind of candy do you have to give out?

I have Snicker's Mini's and Butterfinger Mini's.

Guess I might get more kids at my house if I turned my porch light on. But then I'd have to give away all this yummy candy.

We haven't had any for over 10 yrs. Only 5 houses on our street, and the kids don't want to waste time when across the busy
blvd...the house concentration is high.

So we block off the stairs, and turn the lights out. When we had neighbors with kids, we participated. But we even took our son across the blvd to do his thing... better loot there by far.

We don't have any little kids on our street, and there is no lighting and it is dark and less safe besides!

We don't mind.

we have less and less each year. the neighborhood next to ours is better for door to door stuff. One bag and maybe 10 doorbell rings is about all now.

But for ourselves, we make dinner baked in a pumpkin. Some hamburger/water chestnuts/soy/rice recipe that I found when my kids were young.

One of my favorite memories was Dann, only 18 months. DH took him out and when he came home, he was so excited saying, "Tandy, mommie, Tandy!"

we get very few kids every year so I can spend more and get the good stuff. Of course I buy too much every year so I can eat the left overs. This year I actually made goodie bags with about 8 treats in each bag. This year I was able to add a deck of childrens playing cards into the bag. I got old maid/go fish/memory etc.
I love halloween! Its just soooooooooo fun and the only time you can run around at night looking like an idiot and its okay!

Even back in the day, we only used to get 15-20. They were ALL kids we knew, and we could almost set our clocks by them. One little boy's dad was a drunk, and his mom had to do barn chores before she could take him trick-or-treating. We always told her that if she saw even one light on, Jason could stop--didn't matter if it was ten or eleven o'clock.

All those kids grew up, and the numbers dwindled to maybe half a dozen, spread from 5 to 8 o'clock, so we had to be on alert all evening. It's too hard for us now (split-level, so up and down stairs to the door) and our driveway isn't really safe for those unfamiliar with it. So we pull our shades and keep the lights out. (And eat the candy)

I've been up this long dark drive 10 years and have only gotten 2 T or Ters. They never did that again. We used to take my kids to better and more dense neighborhoods when they were younger.

We have a long gravel driveway but we light it up. We live IN the busy community. Our long driveway means we get less trick-or-treaters than those right on the street. But we still have to buy about 20lbs of bulk candy from Winco. Even at that we spend about $30. I would love to give out bigger candy, or even the mini candy bars, it just cost too much for that many kids. There are people on our street who live right next to the road and hand out big candy bars I don't know how they don't go broke!

Sometimes we get about 30 kids and sometimes we get 15. I turn my light off around 8. I hate it when the teenagers come and ring your door bell, and don't even say anything. They just stick out a pillowcase, a big pillowcase and expect candy. I'ts almost 6 now and we haven't a single one yet. So now my Baby Ruth, 3 Musketeers, Twix, $100,000 bars might be salvaged for Christmas. We tried that last year and they hardly made it 2 weeks. I put my least favorite candy bars on top and my favorite on the bottom.

I'M playing the wicked witch from the west with the porch light out but, haven't heard a trick or treater all night. We used to have lots.

I have a dish of halloween candy for my GKs, when they visit, but not answering door, if anyone should knock.

Why do parents stand in the street at the end of a driveway and allow their small children to walk up to a dark doorway and ring the doorbell??? Makes no sense but it's happened three times here tonight!
