Default My Dad

My Dad would have been 93 today, and I'm really sad that he's not. I miss him and Mom every day of my life.

Hugs to you.

I know what you mean. My parents would be 86 and 90 if they were still living. My Dad loved kids so much and I miss having memories of him and my grand kids. I have memories of my Mom with them and that will have to do.

I miss my parents, too. I had my surgery (11/22) on their 74th wedding anniversary. I considered it a good sign.

B2Y, I feel the same.

My dad's birthday is coming up in Dec. He died at 57... he would have been 73 this year. 6 grandkids and he only knew 2 of them. I'm blessed to still have my mom around.

I totally understand! My mom has been gone since 2006 and my grandma since 2009 and it still ticks me off that they are gone.

In fact, I was just wondering the other day when the holiday season will stop making me cry. Just how many years have to go by before I feel like actually really participating rather than going through the motions?

My mom would be 65 and my grandma would be 88 right now.

Holly, my mom and dad have been gone for over 36 years now...and I still miss my mom and cry during the holidays. I remember her baking cookies and pies, cooking Christmas dinner. It was her favorite time of year.
I think back now and smile more than cry...she taught me so much...she was a world-smart woman with an 8th grade education.
My dad and I didn't get along well, but I understand him now and love him, and also feel blessed at all he taught me.
I wish they could have seen my kids, but they have from up in heaven...

to all of you who have lost a parent

This is why today after I got off the phone with my parents (who thankfully live about 10 minutes away) I was so happy to have talked with them and be able to tell them I love them. Every day I get to do that is a blessing.

I'm sorry, my Grandma died 5 years ago and I miss her dearly, but I can't imagine going through life without my parents.
