Default What a way to start my day (sort of)

So this morning at 7 AM I had my second day of IV fusion Solu-Medrol therapy at my doctors office. I come home at 8 o'clock go back to sleep. At 9 o'clock I get a phone call I ignore the phone rings three more times from my neighbor Al. I figured something was wrong since he was blowing up my phone. I am Answer it and he says "dude why didn't you tell me you're getting a new roof you know I need some replacement tiles." I said I'm not getting the roof. He says you might want to tell the guys on your roof that are stripping your roof that you don't need this done!!!

So I ask Al to meet me outside. I get outside to hear Al telling them to get off the roof that they are at the wrong house. Two of the guys get off the roof, the two of the guys are still stripping tile I get out there and I start screaming at everybody to get off my roof what the hell are they doing.... One guy named Israel goes to the Cab of his truck and gets his work order for 18625 N. 15th St. I live at 18625 N. 15th Pl!!!

Well, long story short the owner of the company comes out and thoroughly kisses my *** and we are having a whole new roof put on and "we will compensate you for the mix up". Not sure what that means. It I will gladly accept any check she writes me. Oh, she is having a different crew come do the roof and Israel is unemployed.

Is the new roof free and the compensation extra? Were you getting close to needing a new roof, anyway?

Congrats!!!

well, Merry Christmas! Here, have a new roof! (probably paid for by the guy who read the address wrong)

Make sure you get an inspector (not from the roofing company) to go up there and inspect the work once they're done. Make sure they didnt damage anything when they screwed up and make sure they didnt do a craptastic job of fixing it. (hopefully whatever they compensate you with will cover the cost of an independent inspector also) Make sure the inspector, if you get one, actually goes up onto the roof to check things out.

You dont want a guy who gets out of his truck, squints up at your roof, and says "looks ok to me from here..." while chewing a toothpick and sticking out his hand for the check to pay him for his time.

I wonder why they didnt ring your doorbell or try to call you when they first got there to make sure they were at the right place. (because if they called the place they were supposed to be, they probably would have found out that they were in front of the wrong house)

Wow...way to go, Earl.

Make sure you get a healthy check for your troubles as well as the new roof. And I'd inspect anything they put on that roof. Make sure they do a great job. Tell the owner otherwise you'll call the local TV crew and let them know. You might want to take a few videos...just to get what occured on camera...

Thanks everybody. It's very good to have a contractor in the family and a father who knows how to kick ***. They are up on the roof starting to work now. All that distruction they did this morning was over my garage at the opposite end of my house I was in the back of the house sleeping when it all happened. From the moment I went out there until just now when I came inside once I got started again I got on video I am recording everything I have told them I will go to local news if it is not absolutely perfect. I appreciate all your support. By the way, we did not need new roof we actually had our roof inspected last year and it is holding up perfectly fine. Now we get a brand-new roof on them. And hopefully a compensation check for our troubles and stress. If you happen to own a roofing company in Phoenix Arizona, there's a man named Israel that needs a job. LOL

Hope they do a perfect roof.

Did you get your neighbor some extra roofing tiles?

I'm betting Israel is going to be having problems getting another job for awhile. Hopefully he'll use the free time to brush up on his reading skills.

Well, Earl, I hope they get your new roof done in time for Santa and his reindeer to land on it!

(assuming you've been Good!)

Yikes, Earl!! what a way to get a new roof!! I hope it all works out for you... and poor roofing guy!

About 7 years ago, we ordered a glass storm door for our front entry door. It was to be installed by the local big box hardware store.

Apparently there is an address that is the same as mine, but in a different zip code on the other side of the city. I'm in the county in a small subdivision. Thankfully the guy called when he couldn't get anyone to answer their door and I filled him in on his Mapquest mistake! He didn't enter the zip code and just picked the wrong address when both showed up!!
