Why do we keep on going when the going is so tough sometimes? What is it about the human spirit that pushes through these tough times?

I think, after being dx with MS for almost 6 years now, I am finally learning to pace myself. Did some chores this morning and am now taking a break. I'll do some more after I rest. |

I have often wondered that same thought. At times I have not wanted to keep going on in my struggles. Yet some good, or some person will fortify my resolve, and jump into my life. Then I think, Why did I feel that way before? I think it is the goodness of others that keeps us going. The seed of faith that things can get better. When I have any bad thoughts, I keep coming back here, and I am renewed. ginnie I hope everyone on the site has a happier and healthy New Year.

I keep going because there are those who depend on me to. The four little kittens whose faces I see peering in the window every morning when I go into the kitchen. They expect me to be there. If I weren't they'd get no breakfast. I know.....may seem silly to some but to those little kitties I'm important.

I don't normally paint my nails but have been doing them again lately. What I hate about nails, and I think I mentioned this on here before, is that they get ruined so quickly. That is one of the reasons I don't bother with it. However, I got to my brother's on Christmas and realized I hadn't removed the mess on my nails. My little 6-year old niece kindly told me I needed to do my nails and I needed to trim them down because they were getting too long. She also offered me her glow in the dark nail polish that Santa left her. haha
I was reminded of this this morning as I really do want to take this sparkly red nail polish off. My niece thought it would look "Christmasy" so we painted them that color. I honestly feel like Dorothy's red shoes splattered all over my nails. |

This is a rather deep thought but I read this last evening and have been pondering it a lot this morning. I read something to the effect of through darkness we find light and thus, find God. Therefore, in darkness we find God. I keep thinking about this as there is a lot of truth in it. We always think of finding God in light but that's not always the case. I think the light holds him there but we have to experience the darkness to "find" him.
I reflected a little on this past year and the dark moments I have had through out this year - worst flare I have ever experienced as well as other medical issues and enough grieving to last me for a while. I did have some dark moments and felt so lost and alone. But through that darkness God was there helping me along and I came out alive! So, I guess the darkness that we all feel from time to time is actually a good thing and something we need to learn to embrace. Sorry for such a deep random thought but it has been on my mind a lot this morning. |

Sometimes it amazes me how dependent on technology we have become. I was talking to a friend yesterday who is having technology difficulties. She was so frustrated as everything seems to be breaking and she "can't" do anything without her computer, phone, etc.
