Default Prayers for Jack the cat please

Jack has really been struggling with all the changes in the house, and all the stress. He is back on 2x daily pain injections at 2x the strength we had him down to. we are now ramming a ammitriptyline pill down his gullet, even tho it upsets him so. He has been hiding in my armoire, dripping bloody urine, and quite sick the last few days. I have cuddled, and loved, and rubbed on him. He is out of his armoire for a few minutes sitting beside me, but it wont be long till he shoots back in there.

He could use some prayers please. If we cannot find a way to control this cats pain, emotional stress, and improve his quality of life, we have spoken the unspeakable for him. How can I allow him to live buried in an armoire in pain, miserable, afraid, and getting injections and pills rammed in his body? He has not played in so long, and he doesnt come out very often anymore.

I cant even begin to explain how much I love this cat, but he is breaking my heart to be and stay so sick. Prayers please.

I am so sorry Jack is ill again! Poor baby!

We are having similar trials with Oreo... with her "diagnosis" of mast cell cancer. A new vet gave her a reprieve of sorts--two high dose steroid pulses, and she is till with us past the estimated "end". She seems happy and herself and not suffering.

It is painful and massively disturbing when a cat has a chronic thing like this. I can only offer my sympathies. The decisions hurt and the guilt (at least in my case) is heavy. I was pretty wiped out in Oct over this issue. But now I feel a bit better, seeing that she is enjoying the last chapter of her life instead of bedridden from the proposed surgery which I finally nixed when I found a new Vet.

The amitriptyline is very bitter, and that is why he fights you.
I had to medicate Oreo and she just wouldn't take anything orally. I finally had a compounding pharmacy sell me the transdermal gel (plain) and I mixed her medications myself each dose into a tiny portion---and we rubbed it in her ear.
This way it wasn't so expensive. The Vet only charged $8.00 a month and the gel was 20.00 and will last much longer than she will. With my training it wasn't difficult. I got the idea for the ear application from YOU, and that has served us well.

Perhaps your hubby could mix it? Grind the dose finely with the back of a spoon on a clean saucer, and take just a smidge of the gel and mix with a flexible spatula (I used an artist's painting knife I had) It is like mixing mortar, only on a minute scale. The powder will dissolve quickly in the gel. I used a very small amount of the gel and it worked!

Amitriptyline is very sedating for cats. My son's cat used it briefly, and she could barely walk. Perhaps this is why Jack is so lethargic? Also the buprenophrine is strange too. Weezie had this with her spay, and it dilated her eyes and she was pretty psychotic. I put her in a dark room, and that helped. Hence Jack seeks a dark place to rest I bet because of similar reaction?

Sending positive thoughts to both of you!

I'm so sorry......and I'm praying for Jack. Bless his heart. Please keep us posted on his improvement. I feel like he's part my cat, too, as I've followed so many of his challenges. Praying for you, too, Dej.

I think I can understand how much you love Jack. I still love and miss my dog TinyMonsters so bad that it hurts and I cant think of him without crying my eyes out of their sockets.

Hope that Jack isnt in pain for much longer (either you find the magic mixture of stuff that works for him or....I hope you find that magic mix of meds for him soon!!)

I hate hearing about animals hurting. Wish that I could send a virtual painkiller to him that would make him feel like a happy kitten again.

Pill #5 is now down the hatch. He should be off pain meds today, but I said that yesterday, and ended up giving him a booster of the lowest dose. He just seemed so uncomfie. I tucked him into a clean armoire, which was washed out, and all the blankets washed, and tucked a dryer warmed blanket around him. He snuggled in, dozed off, and slept for 6 hours. He is wandering the house this morning, so that is a good sign, but cringes when he sees me, as he expected that pill. Do you have any idea how hard it is to pill a cat blind?! OMG! Good thing the husband holds him and watches where the pill goes for me.

So, fingers crossed! day 14 he should really start showing his stuff about whether or not this pill is going to work for him or not. We have prayed on it and prayed on it, and we have decided that IF he doesnt come around the corner, we cannot keep asking him to live this way. Its unfair to him, its unfair to me, and its unfair to the other kitty who misses her buddy. So...Come on Jack! Im rooting for ya! I want to keep you here, and yes, I know I am selfish but he really is one of the greatest cats I have ever owned. He is just so sick. I cant force him to live like this.

So, keep praying! He has 8 pills to go! Then the vet will help us check him from stem to stern to see how dry he is, how tight he is, how emotionally stable or unstable he is...you get the idea.
