Default Why would they put sucrolose in biscuits?

DH has been on food duty since I went blind, and while he is doing a great job, he is starting to get lazy. He got some biscuits that come in a can, and while they were a nice lazy treat, I noticed that similar headache. I asked him to check the package, and sure enough, there it was! sugar AND sucrolose!

WHY???? I mean, pick a lane! either use sugar OR sucrolose, dont use both! UGH! the headache that I get from splenda, and aspertame simply isnt worth it.

Have you found surprising items in your prepackaged foods? When I was the cook it was ALL scratch, home made, but I cant complain too loudly when DH is doing all the cooking and not whining about it. Any other surprises I should wonder about?

Knock on wood, but I haven't had a serious headache, since I stopped drinking diet drinks and eating sugar free stuff. Must have been the phoney sweetners.

aspertame, sucrolose (splenda) and equal give me a mind numbing nauseous grinding festival of a headache. I find alot of MS patients say the same thing. Once they stop drinking the diet version of things, the headaches go away.

I just get so angry when its not clearly labeled as to being "diet" food. WHY?! WHY on God's green earth do we need Sugar AND Splenda in a product??

I am finding it to be a trend lately. You used to look at the label, see sugar, and know you were safe. Now you must read ALL of the tiny teeny ingredients on the list, and normally you find sugar AND splenda in the same product without any form of advertisement of it having such stuff in it. Are they trying to create a new generation of folks that are hooked on things so sweet it will rip your tongue off? Is it because well labeled things with that poison in it isnt selling, so now they have permission to sell it without warn?

is this the new high fructose corn syrup? Will we simply find it everywhere? Why do we need sugar, HFCS, AND Splenda in the same product? How many monsanto products can we squeeze into a can of biscuits?

TOO MANY CHEMICALS! what happened to Food? NONE of these ingredients are food!

I rarely buy packaged foods because most of them are full of words I can't pronounce & I don't even know what they are.

I firmly believe these large food companies are out to make money and they will do whatever they need to increase their profits. Including loading foods up with sugar so people get addicted to the taste & buy more of it. Most don't care one bit that their ingredients aren't good for health. They see their profits go up & that's good enough for them.

Cooking from scratch is the way to go & it need not be complicated recipes either! If it wasn't around 100 years ago, you should think twice before eating it. My opinion anyway.

In the 50s, MSG (flavour enhanser) was in every can you bought, including Campbells soups. My mother even sprinkled it into her homemade stuff(Another headache causer).

I wish the FDA would protect us from these various chemically created preservatives, dyes and flavour enhancers...and no/little salt added. If the Mfgs cook their heat & eat food with the proper ingredients - a little broth, salt & pepper, there would be no need for artificial additives.
