Question help choosing smartphone

I am getting ready to go for it Will be buying my first smartphone ever and am torn between devices, thought I would seek your opinions.

I have Verizon Wireless. I have it narrowed down to the iPhone 4s or the Razr Maxx (but would be happy to hear arguements for another handset). In your opinion what are the pros/cons for either (in simple English please LOL)

I really want it to integrate with my Outlook so I can have access to my email (cox.net pop3 account) and my calendar while I am away from my laptop. I don't really know much else about my "needs" other than excellent call quality due to slight hearing loss.

Please tell me why you feel one is better than the other for aperson in my situation. Thank you in advance!
