Question help choosing smartphone

I am getting ready to go for it Will be buying my first smartphone ever and am torn between devices, thought I would seek your opinions.

I have Verizon Wireless. I have it narrowed down to the iPhone 4s or the Razr Maxx (but would be happy to hear arguements for another handset). In your opinion what are the pros/cons for either (in simple English please LOL)

I really want it to integrate with my Outlook so I can have access to my email (cox.net pop3 account) and my calendar while I am away from my laptop. I don't really know much else about my "needs" other than excellent call quality due to slight hearing loss.

Please tell me why you feel one is better than the other for aperson in my situation. Thank you in advance!

I have the Iphone 4s and would be completely lost without her. I am now legally blind, and all I have to do is push the button and say "schedule a meeting with Jim at 2 tomorrow" and wait a sec and she says "ok, I have scheduled your meeting with Jim tomorrow at 2, are you ready for me to schedule it?" and when I say YES she puts it on my calendar.

it syncs my calendar with my desktop calendar and they melt together thru Icloud. or you can do the google application for the google calendar. The iphone 4s does talk and mesh with your applications.

I say "call my son on his mobile" and she rings his mobile. or "call home" and she will. I dont have to look down, or look anything up. We were headed to a new grocery store and I wanted to know what time they opened. I pushed for her and said "Find Market Basket in Swanzey NH" and she went to the internet and found it. then asked "want me to call them?" and when I said yes, she did!

I can ask "what does my day look like?" and she will tell me all about my appointments. if I click on the calendar she will open to a page that tells me about that appointment. Where it is, with whom, and direction on how to get there.

http://www.apple.com/iphone/ will show you the other features such as the 8mb camera, with the professional quality lens. the HD screen, the 1080p viewing screen if you want to watch a movie, or do a slide screen of your photos.

I have a microphone headset, and can click the button and say "read that last text please" and it will! or "cancel my next meeting" and it will! or "send an email to sally" and it will! it will simply ask me what I want the email to say, and off it goes! The music quality and sound quality is amazing as well has having ten thousand gadgets out there that match it from a speaker, to an alarm clock that wakes you with your own music, to swivel speakers that allow you to turn the screen to landscape so you can watch a movie. No worry about if the nub fits the plug on the phone. from ipod touch to iphone, to ipad they all fit.

Bar none, BEST purchase I ever made. I got the apple care plan to go with it, so I can talk to apple anytime I want for advice or if something goes wrong with my phone, they overnight me a new one. (done that once) whether I drop it in the toilet, it gets run over or stolen.

So, can you tell where my vote goes? expensive out of the box, but oh so worth it! from "tell me the weather outside today" to "what does orions belt look like?" to "show me the music from X song" I cant get enough of this phone.

I am posting now on an ancient iPhone. I have loved it since I got it. Due to my finances now, I've gone back to a simple flip phone. I hate it. It's much harder to setup and use.

When I can, I'll get a new iPhone. I think they are the best smartphones out there. There is a proven history behind them, the apps are better, reliable, oh, the whole thing is just better

I work for Verizon and I say go for the iphone 4 unless you are a tech nut or need really fast 4G data speeds. Apple makes a very good product. I work for Verizon and I will be ordering the iphone 4S on March 1st when I am allowed to do so. Employees have to wait until the customer demands are fulfilled.

Not just the Iphone 4 you want the 4S DONT forget the S. its the updated version of the 4 which required that rubber bumper around it. 4s has that digital assistant in it, and I would be totally lost without her.

Thanks everyone!!! I am leaning to the 4s (heck, just the fact I can yell at it or say "where the hell am I?" should relieve loads of stress LOL)

Plan on going to Verizon today and see if I can make acall to test out how well I hear on the 2 phones. This will play a big role in decision factor. Sounds like the iPhone 4s is also easier to pick up/figure out for a first timer.

I KNEW you guys would help me decide better than a salesrep...

I just got the "otter" case for my phone. WOW! it makes the tilt so much better for making phone calls. it really tucks the phone away, and should I drop it, im sure it wont get hurt now. its like 3 cases in one, then a case on that with a big clip on it. Peek at them while you are there.
