Default Do you smell?

How is your sense of smell these days or did you think I meant something else...lol ?

Some MSers completely lose their sense of smell and some have their's heightened. Other people find their's unchanged at all.

Do you smell and if you do, do you love a certain smell ... like that of a freshly bathed baby ... or does a certain smell remind you of something really special in your past?

I've been cooking today and my house smells wonderfully of cinnamon, which takes me back to my grandma's house when I was small and she'd have a baking day .... all those many, many, years ago.

How about you? What do particular smells mean to you?

I can smell watermelon and immediately I'm back home, in the backyard....sitting at the old pine picnic table with newspaper spread over the top....eating watermelon and watching the horses in the pasture behind us. It relaxes me just to think of it.

Sometimes I smell "hot"...like wires overheating or something burning. It's scary because I never know if it's real!

The three "phantom" smells I have are: perfume, cigarette smoke, and "hot". And as was mentioned, the third one is scary because I don't trust it not to be real.

Even though I'm hyper-sensitive to odors/fragrances and it drives me crazy, there are still many smells I love.

Heliotrope reminds me of Grandma's house.

Aqua Velva reminds me of Dad.

I like whatever shampoo my pastor's wife uses. She always smells good.

Vanilla.

Turkey roasting.

I always smell good & have a good smeller.

I've always had a heigthened smeller and pick up smells others miss. MS has not changed that. The only time my smeller is messed up is when I have a bad cold...(Is there such a thing as a good cold?)

I smell "hot" all the time. Im constantly going up to all my electronics smelling them to see if thats the cause of the smell. It never is, but I cant trust it. I have a horrible fear of fire, because when I was a little girl, my electrical outlet in my room caught fire while I was sleeping. Woke up to flames everywhere and my parents running in the room to try and put out the fire. My sniffer is more sensitive than ever lately. Cant stand perfumes of any kind and my husband had to change his deoderant because the old one caused me to get sick. Never did before, but now it does.

When I smell cigarette smoke, it reminds me of my sister who passed away. She smoked and the smell of any type of cig smoke brings me back to her. She too had MS, and she was my bff.

KittyLady, what a frightful experience that must have been for you and all of your family. Thank the Lord that you were saved from harm.

I can smell "hot" and I can smell ants, even tiny little ants. My husband never believed me when I first said that there was an ant in the room somewhere because I could smell it .... until we went looking and found that ant.

What do ants smell like? I don't think I've ever smelled one.
