the answer i that they were having an illicit affair with my missin silverware and ran off to Chinnette Island - as the stray bowls & glasses showed them the photos while visiting...

B2Y, I don't know why I keep thinking about this thread. I thought of another possibility for losing a piece of silverware. I have a bag of whole flax seed in my fridge and keep one of my good (as in - not plastic) spoons in it. I can see how the bag could get thrown away with that spoon still there.
