Thanks, friends...I think DD & SIL are looking at a golden retriever to get the next time. We had 3 before this golden doodle. They're wonderful family dogs, but your house and clothes get really furry...but they're so playful, and Bailey didn't even play with toys, let alone fetch. But still, he was a wonderful first dog for them. SIL had never had a pet before, so he was a good boy for him.

DD was so busy at work and coaching soccer after school yesterday that it helped her get through the day easier than if she'd done it during the summer.

It was good timing, I guess...but you never want to make that decision. I can remember when my golden Brutus, who was 15, had a tumor in his neck. Every morning I'd pray before going downstairs that he'd gone on to Heaven, and I would curse under my breath when he struggled to his feet to greet me.
He made the decision easier when he stopped eating and relieved himself without even noticing on the floor while lying down. But it was still so difficult to actually take him in and say "yes, it's time."

I know I'll see them all when I finally leave this place...maybe I should get a second dog now so I have a whole bunch greeting me when I reach the pearly gates

I'm so sorry for you and your family's loss. It's been a few weeks since we had to put Molly down, we feel their pain right along with them.

Molly was half St. Bernard, so I know what you mean about hair. I have a friend with a golden, she is a very high energy dog and so loving with the two little girls.

Praying for comfort for all of you!
