How long do cats live? (If not hit by a car or something) . Different vets say different things. We have a female about to be 16. Very skinny (like some little old ladies can be) but very spunky when annoyed and seemingly healthy.

I think strictly indoor cats tend to live a little longer.....for obvious reasons like no outside dangers (cars, other animals, etc.). But indoor only cats can get sick just like any other pet can so being inside doesn't always guarantee safety.
I had a cat who lived to be 21. Got her when I was in first grade and she lived until after I was married and moved out. I have a cat right now that is 12. One that is 10 and one that is 8. The 10 year old cat was just dx with lymphoma. He's on Prednisone plus an anti-nausea med but otherwise seems content. Some cats live as long as 25 years but I think that is extremely elderly for a cat. Thank you for providing a loving home for your kitty for the last 16 years, Kicker. It's a big responsibility taking care of a pet. They depend on us for everything.

It's a little harder to tell with cats unlike dogs where you can guess roughly by breed or size. So it's not unusual for some cats to croak at 10 even though you were a good pet parent and they lived a healthy life... And it's not highly unusual for some cats to live to 20 or beyond. A rough average would be around 15, but it's an average like a person's average life expectancy to be 72. Many live beyond and many don't even live to see it.

I have my garage back!! I called The Quinn House and they picked up nearly everything we had left over from the sale. The dishes and glasses need to be boxed up and they'll come back for those and for the glass top dining room table.
DS and DIL are already talking about their "next" sale but they're going to have to come up with a lot of stuff to sell before then. I think they were surprised at the amount of money they made but they had some big ticket items in this last sale. Oldest DS had some good news to share this past weekend. He is going to propose to his longtime GF and went to talk to her parents and get their blessing before he officially asks her to marry him. They were thrilled. He's had the ring for months. Now he just needs to ask her!! I know she'll say yes but he wants to do everything "just right" and that means having the perfect setting/time/weather/hair day........ I hope he asks her soon because I'm araid I might blurt out something and ruin it for him! I'll just keep a tight rein on my tongue. Youngest DS and DIL will celebrate their 3rd wedding anniversary on the 4th of this month. I think they have plans for the weekend but DS is out of town in Dallas on business right now. He'll be home Thursday. Okay, that's all that's going on in my little corner of the world. What's new with all of ya'll?

More good news to add to the above post!!
A little background. Oldest DS bought me a TV for my birthday last year (Dec. of 2015). It was just out of it's one year warranty and the picture went out. The sound was/is good so I've just been listening to the music channels and watching anything I want to see on my bedroom TV. To fix this television (it's a Samsung 40") they wanted $125 just to show up at my house and give me an estimate on repairing it. I asked if they could apply the $125 to the repair cost if I decided to have it fixed. Nope. Well, I can buy a new TV for $258 at Sams Club so I told them to forget it. I haven't been in a big hurry to replace it but there are times I do miss having a TV in the living room. I was talking to DS today and mentioned it but told him that I'd found a music channel that plays only 70's music and I was enjoying listening to that. Well, my phone just rang and it was DS telling me that my Mother's Day present would be delivered Thursday and that it was a television!! What??!! He said he would have just surprised me with it but he knows I shop online during the wee hours of the night sometimes so he didn't want me to purchase a TV since he already had. He knows me too well!! What a sweetheart! I've got some sweet kids.

Wow, kitty cats, televisions, engagements, lots happening.
Only thing happening to me besides my bum tooth extraction is that I think my husband is actually going to get me a Mother's Day gift. This is something very unusual for him. My daughter and us were all out for supper the other night and she took her phone and showed him something on it. He said that although it was nice he was wanting something more of a tear drop. They wouldn't let me see it at all and were whispering to each other. If he buys me anything, it is always her mentioning it to him. I know he has been real appreciative of all the support of his ulcerative colitis and through his whole ordeal of his meningitis last year of which he still doesn't remember it. I am chewing a little better today. It took me a long time to eat a scrambled egg tonight but I guess I got the jaws all lubricated to eat two cookies!!!! I tried one of those Dole fruit smoothies that are in the freezer department at the grocery. Add fruit juice and shake. It was a very berry mix and I added concord grape and rasberry V-8 fusion so it was 'VERY berry!'.

Hi everyone!
Kicker, that was a sweet thing you did for your-or not your-cat. Kitty, you said something very profound-Kicker was the cat's human...loved it. Been busy since coming home from Hawaii last month. Lots of grand baby sitting and visiting. Went to Denver for eight days to see DS2 and his family. We don't get to see them much so it was nice to spend time with our 2 grand babies there. We are going up to the lake house over the weekend. Haven't been up since September so we are looking forward to it. The lake ice melted early due to the warm winter/spring, so SIL is coming over for a couple of days to help put the pier in the water. We have a few things to finish in the house, like the floor in the basement, wood trim around the floors, installing a second shower, and getting a washer/dryer, which would be heavenly, since the laundromat charges an arm and a leg. We are also planning to have a patio installed in the new yard at home. We planted some azaleas, spirea and hydrangeas as well as a few dogwood shrubs to liven things up a bit. I miss my old yard-except taking care of the koi pond. We have a nice natural pond out back that we can enjoy without the labor and stress Hope everyone is doing well...

It's 45 degrees here this morning!! Woke up freezing with all three cats huddled up together on my bed. I turned the heat on for a little while just to get the chill out. It's May for heaven's sake!!
