Crazy Feeling like a whiner (small vent)

I went to see my spine doctor today, and one of the first things out of his mouth was "what can I do for you today?" It was almost like he was surprised to see me. So I said "Well, I had the injection back in December, you scheduled me for a follow-up the first of January, but you cancelled that b/c you were sick. So this is the new appointment for that."

He goes on to tell me that I have what everyone has and its not that bad. So I said, well, you told me that I should wait for PT. He said oh, yeah, lets get you started. So I got a script for that, but that was the end of it. I asked him what my dx was and he said spondylosis and my pain should 'come and go'. He treated me like it was no big deal.

It was just a weird appointment. I guess I'm whining because I've spent thousands of dollars and I felt like he was dumping me or something.

I can't wait to go see the Neuro and find out my LP produced nothing too....I feel like giving up on everything. Not in tears or anything, I'm just fried, I'm done, and I don't know what to do anymore about anything.

It sounds like the doctor didn't check your chart before coming in the room. I hate when they do that. Maybe he was having an off day not that that is any excuse. I'm sorry you had a bad visit, like being sick isn't frustrating enough.

You don't need that attitude after all you've been through lately. I bet he'd be a bit more compassionate if he'd recently had a LP, the rotten headache that you had, and the blood patch after it....just to name some of the stuff.

Try not to get too despondent while you're waiting for your neuro appointment. Hopefully he'll have some answers for you this time.

Yeah, we talked about the LP and blood patch. I felt like his attitude changed because of that, and that he figured that I have MS and he can't help me...I felt like HE THOUGHT I was a hypercondriac or something just looking for pain meds. I didn't dare ask...cuz I'm not due for more until Feb. I'm not out, but I did use extra after the LP/BP...and I told him that, so he knows I'm gonna run short. Oh well....got lots of the anti inflamatories...that'll have to do....

Anyway....thanks for listening....

You are not a whiner...I think you got in with a doc who is not a good listener! Once I had an ortho check the wrong shoulder during a re-check, and when I told him, he had the nerve to say "Gee, I should have read your chart before I came in here." At that point, I was DONE, much like you are now!

I sure hope you get some answers soon - when do you get your LP results?

I hate appointments like that. My response is usually "If you feel like I'm wasting your time, then you are wasting mine as well." Unfortunately, that comes from a long experience with bad docs.

Hope the neuro appointment goes better than this did.

Retreat, regroup, reload, beautiful.

MS may not take a break from you, but you can take a break from it, so to say. If you can find it in yourself, just let go of it for awhile. Continue your current meds and posting here, but try to find a healthy/happy distraction for awhile. I can't tel you how much keeping a diary/journal has helped me.

I hope I'm not talking out of turn here. It only took three months for my Dx.
Just want you to know I wish you well.

You folks are just what I needed! Thank you! Moose, you never speak out of line I've spent all morning reading at "Spine Universe" and decided that in addition to my PT starting in Feb, I am going to find a Chiropractor. I've NEVER tried this and think an evaluation at least is in order. Maybe if they adjust me a bit, the specific area will get relief?

I've also done Acupunture in the past for my eye problem, and will look into that as well. My insurance will cover it if I ask nicely

So I have two other options I've yet to try (PT/Chiro) (EDIT: OOPS 4 options if I add in the Accupuncture and Therepy). I was also reading about how when you focus on the pain, it gets worse. I'm not sure how I can ignore it when it is constant and my back is always tight, so maybe I'll consider a Phyic to address my emotions and coping skills. This is the one I hate the idea of the most. I've never gotten help from one when I've gone in the past, but maybe a good one would help.

I truely hate this whole process, but if I don't help myself, who will?

I'm going to focus heavily on my Schooling from now on. I've been out of it for a few weeks from the LP/BP. This may help too.

Hi J! Sorry things are going so lousy right now. I did the limbo for a long time. I understand. Moose gave you some good advice (as usual LOL). I was misdiagnosed with RSD in 2001 and given spinal nerve blocks for nine months to treat the tremors in my right foot and leg. Not fun. I was dx with MS with a normal lp. Just step back from all of this and get yor sx treated. That's just what I did until I got severe tremors in my left hand last year. E-mail me hon, if you want some more info about my 'long, strange trip'. And how I actually felt when I got the MS dx. I'm thinkin' about ya!
