Laugh MS mom's birthday cake disaster!

February 8 was my son's 17th birthday so I made him a cake like I always do. When transferring layers, disaster struck! My left hand started to tremor and this is what happened:

Aw Joelle.

Around here, that would mean a free for all between two dogs and four cats as to who could gobble down the goodies the fastest! LOL

We have an old saying 'round here. "It's tough when half the cake falls on the floor. But it's tougher when there ain't no cake at all." Hope the rest was as yummy as it looks.

LOL. The DGD already knows what the phrase *5 second rule* means (she can still have it). And the dogs wait till I say *Clean up, aisle 2* before it's theirs.

If we didn't have rules, the poor kid would starve.

The cake was still delicious! It was a from scratch devil's food cake with a caramel & toasted pecan filling and vanilla, sweetened whipped cream frosting. My 4 cats licked up the whipped cream AFTER I ate the cake LOL! My son didn't mind because I could still fit 17 candles on what was left of the top layer !!!

I'm sure it was scrumptuous Joelle!

Your picture reminds me of an incident back when I used to do cake decorating. I had iced and decorated a wedding cake for a couple about to be married. They picked up the cake about 2 weeks before the wedding and were thrilled to bits with what I'd done.

Then disaster struck! About 3 days before the wedding the bride phoned me in tears.....her cat had been at the cake and gouged big chunks out of the icing with it's claws, and broken lots of the flowers. Can I fix it? It took over a month for me to do this entire cake from scratch, ice it, make the flowers etc, and I only had 3 days to do it all again.

Yes she had a cake....yes the fondant that the edging flowers were made from was still soft, and the centre piece was suddenly a fresh opened rose, rather than an arrangement of flowers made from icing fondant, but I've never met a more grateful bride and groom!

ah, man, Joelle!

don'tcha just LOVE stuff like that?

glad you were able to still eat the cake.

and wish your son happy BD for me, okay?

my worst MS-related kitchen problem was due to vision problems.

we keep all our food in JARS because of the bugs.

one day after shopping, I was filling jars, and...

I poured the yellow split peas in with the POPCORN!!

since I hate waste, I emptied the jar out onto a plate...

and spent the next two HOURS separating them, one pea/kernel at a time.
