I only saw this guy 3 times and the only "history" he has of me is what I told him. So he says he wants me to try Cymbalta for the anxiety because he thinks that's whats causing all my SX, is that really a DX of anxiety?
I have the report from my last visit with him and it say under DX: Paresthesia, than under Discussion: The numbness she describes is nonspecific but her detailed work up including a LP, blood work, MRI has been completely unrevealing. The fact that the SX are fleeting unpredictable and to localize suggest more of a psychogenic origin than neurogenic. On a side note at the end of our last visit my DH grilled him about firbo, he asked the Dr if he believed it was real and asked why most Dr still don't believe in it and so on and he really didn't want to talk about it. He kept most of his answers to, "no, yes, I don't know". DH and I talked when we leave the office and both got the feeling he did NOT believe in fibro.

I'm STILL waiting on him to call back, there were closed on Thrusday.
I don't know if you saw my update under limbo check in but I'll copy and paste it here just incase you didn't. ************** Well I'm back from the eye Dr. Guess what I don't have a DX of anything, well not yet. I HAD to leave to get the kids from school and he (eye Dr.) didn't have time to look over the printout yet and he wanted to call my neuro and talk with him He said he would call me and let me know what he thinks. He said there was no surface swelling of the vessels but there was differently swelling of the other vessels in the eye (back behind the eye or something). I have loss of vision near the pupil and most of the top/inside and inside area (near my nose). He said it could be ON but there were different kinds of ON, or something like that. So I'll just have to wait until he calls me, who knows when that will be. __________________

I did see it....thats why I asked.
I don't know what to say....several of us are having trouble identifying what is going on....I'd take the neuro up on the cymbalta and see if it's eases your sx....but thats me. If he thinks it will solve your sx, the only way to prove him wrong is to take the drug and test it.....?????? I'm less and less able to offer answers, until I have my own I can say that even on Lexapro, I have some things going on that still have no answers....but I'm letting the doctors work thru it until someone knows something....and I'm paying them to figure it out...so choosing to follow their recommendations is all I can do for now...

He can if he's a Neuro/Psych, as my Doc was. He gave me a DX of MS and Anxiety.
It sounds like your Neuro is looking for the easy way out of a DX of MS. With all your symptoms, he should at least say it's possible or probable MS, instead of blaming it all on you. I hate that. A second opinion from a MS specialist is in order, I think.

That really sucks Julie....I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time. Sally's idea to see an MS specialist may be a good idea. Those who get a quick dx do because of ON or lesions....and then the LP confirms if needed. You and I both have neither....but some here were in limbo for many years....and that may just be our fate.
When I thought I had MS, I was so relieved that I could connect things finally...now...I'm walking around wondering WTF again.....I'm afraid to even mention the 'small' things still going on with me, in fear I'll be viewed as off balance (no pun intended). I don't know what more to do....and I'm tired of spending money on this.

I have mixed feelings about telling Dr.'s all my SX, if they don't know whats really going on than I might not get the right DX but on the other hand if I tell them everything I look like a nut case I feel like I can't win sometimes. Oh but I LOVE my eye Dr, he was SO open with me. He tells me within minutes of talking with me that ON is one of the most things Dr.'s see 1st when it comes to MS, He brought up the MS thing not me. Than he asked me what SX I have been having other than the eye issue. Than he said well that sure sounds familiar. I had told him I had an MRI after my eye acted up and the neuro said nothing showed up and he (eye dr.) said that ON doesn't always show easily on a scan. I told him the scan was only 20 minutes and with-out contrast, he tilted his head to the side and rolled his eyes, I wanted to LOL so bad. Than he said that it can take some time before MS can be seen on a scan.

I understand.... My Optho/Neuro called with a second opinion but I missed the call....he's off today so it will be next week. I did get my LP results and they say nothing about O bands....I'm wondering if my test was not complete....I just don't know and I can't assume anything until I hear. My protein was high tho...but not really high...just a tad up....so what does that mean????? Do they know?
