Beth,
I'm so happy you got to hear the ocean - and so glad that you have such a sweet friend. Isn't it nice when someone does something like this for us - just out of the blue - with no expectation of anything in return - just because.

I'm glad you posted too. About friends who do cool things, what ever they can, and about the things we wish we could but we don't know how or don't feel up to. It's okay to feel that way. At least I hope it is. God knows, I feel that way.
There's a ot of things I'd love to do, but I'm not good with arranging. I'd love to see the ocean again. That would be a great board buddy get together, huh? Somebody quick, hit the lotto. And Cayo OMG, that is gorgeous! Thanks so much. I saved that to my faves.

I came back to read this whole thread, b/c~~ it really did teach me something. One~ Friends are truly amazing in our lives, and secondly~~
I go to NC several times a yr, have seen the ocean many, many times..BUT, have I really seen it??? What I mean is~ I take it for granted b/c I've been to the beach there so many times... On my next trip to NC, Beth~ I'm really going to LOOK at the ocean, LISTEN to it and remember how fortunate I am. Thank you for making me see that I really do need to SEE things in a different light. FWIW: I have had so many people in NC ask me what the Mississippi River is like? I thought it was strange cuz I live about 3/4 from it and don't think a thing about it. (We used to live in a home right next to the river.) But, they've heard about the Mighty Mississippi all their lives and have never seen it. Sorry for rambling, just looking at things a little differently now.... {{{{ Beth}}}} Moral of my story~ God's blessings and beauty really is all around us. If you ever want to meet me in NC, Beth~~ we'll go to the ocean together..

and in walking around, I find that I am looking around me more. and sitting, I watch out the windows a lot as well. I now have a birding book, and have been keeping track of every bird I catch a glimpse of... and learning about butterflies as well. I'm seeing things like I never have before... and listening, especially to birdcalls, and life around me... yes, it IS a blessing!

I've slowed down quite a bit, too. People in a hurry tend to irritate me now!! I've put up a bird feeder at my window in my office and I sit and watch them first thing in the morning (with the cats although I don't make the strange clicking noises they do!!). It's so relaxing and sort of humbling. . . those birds have to work hard just to stay alive each day. We're not the only ones with tasks and chores. I'm listening to a Cardinal right now. He's been singing for the past fifteen minutes. Nothing is on - no TV, radio. It's just quiet except for the Cardinal. He's sitting on a fence post just beyond the property line in my backyard. I feel really blessed that I can sit here and listen to him. I think my deceased Dad has something to do with all the Cardinals I see - they were his favorite bird. It's nice that we can notice things that have an impact (large or small) on our lives. Just like Beth's ocean - she will always remember that sound and the fact that her friend thought enough of her to share that experience.

Although we haven't been in a while, when we go to Mexico I will sit there in the sand and rub my feet in it (both wet and dry sand). It is such a good feeling. I play with the sand too. I let it run through my fingers and watch it fall. I also sit there and smell that salty air that is so refreshing. I play in the water as if I was a child. LOL. DDs laugh at me but it is so much fun. I try to make the most of these trips as I love being by the water and being in the desert well . . .our "lakes" are like other's ponds. LOL. MS has taught me to slow down and to experience more. It truly has been a huge blessing in disguise. Maybe that is why God chose me to have it. He knew I needed to SLOW down and experience things instead of just vaguely slowing down enough to acknowledge something. Does that make sense? |

BTW - I am not very good at posting pictures on here but this is how I imagine Beth at the beach. I know I posted it at another site but . . . .
