Default Prayers Please

My aunt and uncle were visiting my mom in Tennessee (they live in Michigan). Yesterday he had a heart attack. My mom took him to the ER, the drs couldn't even get a blood pressure! The EKG showed numerous abnormalities. They got him stable and wanted to send him on to another hospital to be admitted to the heart unit for an emergency heart cath. Well! He refused! He signed himself out, signed a paper stating he was leaving against doctors better judgement. I talked with my mom earlier and she said they left to drive back to Michigan. I can't believe how damn hard headed he is being! The doctor told him he was a walking time bomb and that he would be lucky if he made it back to see his dr. I am worried sick about him. I have always been very close to both of them, more like my parents than aunt and uncle. He walked me down the aisle when I got married. I'm rambling I know, but I am so upset. Please say a prayer for him and my aunt. Pray that they make it back to Michigan and he is okay.

Susan

Men can be so hard headed when it comes to health, and what he is putting those he loves through has got to be extremely hard. Prayers of course!

My DD's best friends, Mother's, ex-husband () Died day before last. Drinking got his liver, Diabetes and then a stroke. Guess the state was paying the ex-wife to care for him, but she didn't give him his drugs! WTH was she getting money for? Now she is wondering 'what went wrong'? Guess there is fault all around. It's all very upsetting for the people who are here after it's over. Guess it's a bad week all around.

Susan -

I'm praying... He'll make it home.

I also understand your uncle's actions. I'd do the same thing. I don't know where in Tennessee or Michigan they're going from/to - but it's not that long of a drive, unless you're talking Memphis to the UP.

There's numerous factors - insurance requirements, preferred doctor, feeling inherently comfortable waiting, fear of an unknown environment, etc.

Wishing him the best.

Tom

ps - out of curiosity - Michigan-Tennessee-Houston? I was raised in Michigan and still have family there. My parents live in Tennessee. I live in Houston.

Thank you Tom. I'm sure a lot played into his decision, but he is a hard-headed man! (It runs in the family lol)

I believe we once chatted about the Michigan-Tennessee-Houston connection lol I grew up in Michigan, Battle Creek and Kalamazoo area, moved to Tennessee in 1982, to Crossville, went to high school there....lived in a small town south of Nashville near the Alabama border....moved to Houston (galleria area) May of last year...dh has been here for about 25 years.

Prayers going up for your Uncle.....

As frightening as it is... I understand wanting to be home.

My friends husband just when through the same kind of situation.... they were in Florida. He wasn't given a choice about being treated... he's feeling better and is home now... BUT... his insurance is refusing to pay for treatment because he was out of network and failed to get pre-approval. (HOW do you get pre-approval for treating a heart attack????)

I pray safe travels for your uncle and aunt.. a speedy recovery for your uncle... and strength for you aunt and uncle.

I'm on it, Susan; keep the faith, Uncle is only a man, God knows what to do.
