Default We've just had a TORNADO!!!

I was not warned of the weather here, but we just had a tornado hit the downtown Atlanta area. We live a little North of the downtown area. But apparently, there were several big things happening in downtown Atlanta this evening. There was a college basketball tourney, and a huge Dental convention. One would expect this type of weather to be more typical of FLA., and I never expected it to be like this in GA. I think we've taken cover more times in the last year for tornados here than we did the entire time we lived in FLA.

Our electricity was just restored, so we had no clue as to what was happening. At one point, we had hail the size of golfballs, and it was so loud, I thought all of the windows were going to break. Here is a link to our local news station with some pictures of the downtown area. It is a bloody mess around here. You can hear ambulances all around, and there have been at least 9 severe casualties. It is something like this that puts things into perspective. Here is the link:

Chris,

I'm glad you're OK. We got a lot of lightning and thunder but the worst of the storms were south of where I am. Not too far south but far enough to miss us - today. We're supposed to get more tomorrow.

I've had the TV on Channel 2 all evening and they're still reporting on the damage. Said it looks like a war zone. Scary!

Thanks, you lot. It is starting to storm again quite heavily, so it's best I get off the computer. I'm going to try and fall asleep. I have no idea how Michael is fast asleep right now. I am so frightened! I will report back in the morning, and hopefully, things will have calmed down a tad by then.

I appreciate your concern and thoughts and prayers.

Have a good night.

*Kelly-I'm SO relieved to see you are safe. Please stay that way through the rest of the night!

We're fine, Chris. I'm glad ya'll are OK, too.

Men can sleep through anything. We had an actual tornado rip through our subdivision in 1998 and took down the privacy fence around our backyard. Tim slept through the entire thing - it sounded like the mothership had landed in our yard and he never flinched.

I was so glad to see this post and know that you all are safe !!! I am wondering if there are others that live in Atlanta that will hopefully check in ??? (I can't remember who lives where)

Had you all on my mind during the night. I was having a sleepless night and heard the news and was anxious to check on everybody this morning.

Please continue to stay safe - more bad weather is headed your way from what they are saying right now.

We're under another tornado warning this morning - supposed to be like this all day today. Atlanta had to cancel it's St. Patrick's Day Parade and several other events have been cancelled/rescheduled. Downtown Atlanta looks like a bomb went off - debris everywhere. I live about 50 miles NE of the city. Chris lives closer to Atlanta and her area got hit pretty badly from what the news is reporting.

Glad you're ok. Thanks for checking in. I saw that in the news this morning and was wondering about the board buddies down in Georgia.
