My name is Beth and I am a bubblegumaholic. I constantly chew bubble gum. When the flavor goes away (about 5-10 minutes) I pop another gumball.

I blow great Bubbles:o:eek::p

I was a carhop in the late 50's really early 60's - at the Flying Saucer in Poughkeepsie, NY - little white short shorts - alas no roller skates - but the tips were great - pennies - after all a shake was a dime - gone are those days - for both the short shorts and the shakes for a dime -

My sisters were too! At a place called the Sno Cap Drive-in. But they did wear roller skates! :) I have vague memories (born in 1958). Those were the days!

Good thread. I usually don't have time to read thru these, but I happen to have some free time now...

I'm a product of a very radical part of the country in the early 70's. Heck, my nickname is Free. I was a hippie. Long hair, drugs, sexual revolution, everything. Music? - Vanilla Fudge, Procol Harem, Canned Heat... "Take a trip and never leave the farm" type of guy. Protests, demonstrations. We had a blast protesting the burning of the wild hemp fields in southeast Michigan when the government decided to eradicate the wild weed...

Ok. I know. No surprise, right? This thread is about something that would surprise you about me. Well -

During this whole time, I earned money playing the piano at parties. Mostly older folks, an occasional middle age folks party where the Tijuana Brass songs were popular. Songs like Blue Danube, theme songs from Fiddler on a hot tin roof or whatever it was, some pop... I knew maybe 70 or 80 songs initially. I doubled this in the first few months (11th grade).

I'd go to Florida and play the trailer parks. These trips were very profitable.

I never told my friends about it. When I couldn't hang out, I just told them I had to work. Never told them what I was donig. My girlfriend knew and actually came along a few times.

I still play a few of my favorites when I'm at my parent's house...

Tom

Beth,

I am going to send you a medal of courage and, since you have not been to the beach, I am also going to send you a small bag of sand that I will collect from a beach in Kona in June.
