Default Diamond????Find?

Just so y'all know the story about finding some kind of stones under the wood floor in the dinning room is not an April Fools joke. I'm saying this because I called my mom and told her about it, well she just laughed and asked how long it took me to think up that story. She had me take a picture and email it to her to prove it! LOL So I thought I would post it here as well.

I wish it was a better picture but I had to use dh's camera and as great as it is, I don't like it. Shhhh don't tell him I said that!

To try to put them into perspective, I put the 3 stones inside my engagement ring which is a little over 1/2 carat total.

I'd be very surprised if they turn out to be real, but hey I've had fun imagining that I rip out the boards and find a bag full of diamonds under there! lol

Good Lord, girl! I thought would have had that floor ripped up by now.

Those are good sized "rocks" you found. Get busy, that bag is down there waiting for you.

I can't figure what they could be other than diamonds. There's nothing else that will cut glass right? I'm going to have to buy another magnifying glass cause I've scratched the daylights out of it with these 3 (keep your fingers crossed) diamonds. lol Funny, each time I scratched a mark in the glass I'd stop, look at it like and do it again to make sure I was seeing it right!

Oh a laptop heck even a new desktop sure would be nice!

Is it stil April 1st there where you live suzyq? I actually believed one stone, but finding 2 more with just a flashlight was a bit too co-incidental for me.

Nice one Suzy. You had me going there for a bit.

I promise you and everyone else this is NOT an April Fools joke! Honest! LOL
Even dh thought I had planted them there to fool him. LOL

You have to remember that there is a small gap between these 2 boards and I guess they just worked their way up towards the top. A flashlight gave enough light that I could see them.

I would so love for them to be real diamonds but I know better, they are more than likely cz's or something like that. Maybe I was wrong about diamonds being the only thing that would scratch glass?

Cubic zirconia CAN cut glass.

But, diamonds are the ONLY things that CAN SCRATCH cubic zirconia.

Not sure if you want to use your real diamonds as a test on your little treasure...you might want to take your treasure to a gemologist or a jeweler and have them evaluate the stones/pieces of glass.

You have a point there Erin - but why would anyone hide CZs?

There are a lot of other gems they might be - white topaz, zircon (that is a natural and fairly expensive gem). I'd take them in and have them evaluated.

What made you think they were hidden, Brain? My immediate reaction was that a) it was probably a fairly cheaply made ring with poor settings, and b) she wailed it across the room in a fit and it broke loose sending gems in every direction.

Then, when she calmed down and realized that she had parted with a highly-hockable item, thus, she decided to hunt for all the stones, never to recover the tiny ones that fell between the cracks.

Then, for 40 years hence, she has told the story of how her evil ex-husband scooped up the stones in the dark of the night and sold them to a gypsy for $20 and used the money to go get drunk.

Makes perfect sense to me.
