Thumbs up Update on my Grandma

I'm happy to report that she is out of skilled nursing and I will be flying out on Friday to get her and bring her to my house. It's going to be one heck of a flying marathon for me, but it will be worth it. I fly out Friday morning and will stay overnight and fly back with her on Saturday morning.

The last couple of days we have been trying to get things ready at my house. I'm really nervous and unsure of how things are going to go, but I'm just going to take it one day at a time.

This is kind of a trial run to see if this is where she wants to be permanently, but it has been determined that she cannot live alone and she doesn't want to do assisted living. So, this is probably the best alternative.

I really want her to say she is happy here and will just stay with me permanently. I'm just so happy that I'm going to get to have her here with me for as long as she wants to be here.

Thanks for updating Holly. You are a remarkable person, did you know that? We are in the same place right now with my mom. She is seeing the neuro today to determine what is going to happen. Hugs to you!

I was just thinking of you and your Grandma, Holly! I'm so glad you posted what your plans are....sounds like you and your grandma have a special relationship. I wish I could see my Grandmother again - she was such a fun and silly lady. I have a picture of her on my dresser.

I hope things work out for you and her and she's happy living with you. She's a lucky lady to have such a wonderful granddaughter.

Bless you for considering taking care of your grandma. Not many people even consider it anymore. Especially when they are "sick" themselves.

I am the onl one in my family that has been the caretaker. I travelled 1200 miles to help my my mom take care of my dad. My sis and bro live there. Katrina had just hit my house, and I left my job, and hubby to take care of my daddy. I would do it again in a heartbeat!!! DH was SOOOO understanding!!!

Good luck. I hope all goes well, and just remember - PATIENCE!!!!

to you and yours!

Connie
