*lol* well.. I always thought this commercial was weird the CEO advertising his own social security number and saying it's protected. Well.. I guess he wasn't as protected as he thought.
One guy applied for a payday loan of $500 with his social security number and got money with it. Well, I never was going to sign up for Lifelock but I definitely won't now! Source: http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/05/22/lifelock.flap.ap/ Monique |

That is too funny.
When I saw that commercial I just couldn't believe it!! I don't think anything is 100% safe. LOL What was he thinking?

I wish someone would steal my identity!!! As soon as they realized who they had they'd be bringing it back real fast!!
There is nothing about my financial situation that anyone would even want to be a part of.....but hey, if they can get me a line of credit that I don't have to pay back more power to them!!

In the CEO's defense, he can pay himself back up to 1 million dollars.

The best part is that the service is provided free by the 3 credit bureaus but he actually convinced people to pay him to do it instead!

Not a good businessman...
I would guess it's not a publicly traded company. If it was the stock would tank. But it's probably just him and maybe some other investors. Hope they were operating in the black. ...yeah...unlikely. Another idea bites the dust.

He was banking on lots and lots of people signing up for his "program". He felt the risk of making his Social Security number public information was less than the amount of money he stood to make through this scam (that's what it is because, like Greta said, the 3 credit reporting agencies offer the services for free). He was playing on everyone's sense of trust - he got what he deserved, IMHO.
