got some GREAT news, so I had to go dredge up this old thread, and add to it...

I got an email from my DD, about her college graduation:

there are 3 ceremonies:

the honors convocation (April 24, 2009, 6:00 pm),
the psychology department convocation (May 21, 2009, 4:00pm),
the big school commencement (May 23, 2009, 9:30am).

the honors convocation and the department convocation will be much smaller than the big school commencement.

the big school commencement is where I'll actually "graduate".

at the honors convocation, though, I'll be honored as a President's scholar (4.0 GPA over two contiguous semesters), and that is kind of special.

oh, and she's graduating MAGNA CUM LAUDE, yay!

that's the only good thing I have to share, lol, I feel like carp, this MS is totally kickin' my butt for sure... and I don't have the fundus operandi for a plane ticket to go to the ceremony in California <WAH!>

but she's sending photos, which will be nice.

Congrats!!!!! My daughter went one year in college and I don't think she ever went across the street from her dorm room to the classes! She ended up with a .667 GPA. She said that she thought that she had a .666 but it was a Southern Baptist college and they wouldn't give a .666 so they gave her the benefit of the doubt.

I don't understand what the title means, but I have worked out that it's a very great honour.

Congratulations Kay, both to your DD and also to the mom who gave her the start. You have every right to be proud.
