I was thinking about going to see my neurologist in late August. Sometimes I feel like he doesn't believe me when I tell him what is going on with me. He is an MS Specialist and last saw me in 2006. My symptoms are getting worse and I saw my pcp last week who did a quick neuro exam, but stated that he wouldn't order any MRI's for me. He told me to go to my neuro and let him see what he thinks. So I have an appt for August 26. I have been journaling all my symptoms and (I can't remember who gave me a picture to show where the pain is and when) I have filling it out.
But I had another idea also. What do you think the neuro would do if I video taped my symptoms when they happen? For instance, when it is very hard to hold anything because of my shaking after exhertion. Or my myoclonic jerks during the day and night. Practically alll the time, even when I type my fingers will jerk at times. Also when I am in extreme burning pain, just letting him know where and how bad it hurts. I have his email that he has given me, so I thought about doing this and sending him the video the day before my appointment. Is this a good or bad idea? Has anyone ever done this before? I am interested in all your takes on this. If you have other ideas also, please let me know. I just want him to know that this is getting me more depressed than usual and it is reduntant to be doing neuro-feedback to help with pain and depression when I don't feel like anyone is listening to me. Thoughts please... Missy

Sounds like a good idea to me. I've never done it, but if you feel he doesn't take you seriously it might be helpful if he could see what you are experiencing.
Sometimes doctors tend to minimize our complaints. I have found that if I get the first appointment of the day things go much smoother for me. It seems like my doctor isn't thinking about the last patient he saw and I get his undivided attention. Just a thought.

I think it's a great idea. Also, review your journal and see if you can isolate the conditions that bring on the symptoms, then perform the task, etc. to cause them in front of him.
My doctor believes what I tell her and knows that this is not the life I had planned. She's a good doc.
