yes !!
I have lived and enjoyed having a house full of people almost at all times when my children were growing up -- I loved that.

Now - I am at a different place in my life and alone most of the time - and I love that.

I still work so I have a full day - but love coming home and unwinding and I think I would totally enjoy being home all day alone also !

I know what you mean Kelly, and wonder about it myself.

For the most part, I like equal amounts of company and solitude. But I am very comfortable being alone in a quiet house and there are times when I wished hubby had someplace to be so I could have a few hours of quiet time! LOL

Hey Kell~ I am a mixture of the 2. There are times I love being around people and there are other times that I cringe if the doorbell rings. DH works all day and is usually outside in the garden after wk, so I have my time to myself. Oh, and my 2 doxies keep me company.

I like both, but I don't think I would fare well if I was alone all the time.
I did love the old days when the kid's were little, but as soon as they went to bed, I had a couple of hrs to myself to regroup for the next day.

I love my solitude Kelly . I really like to go to a restaurant, shop and go out for coffee by myself. I even go to the movies alone sometimes. I never leave the house without a book though . I being with other people also but on my own terms. I don't want to feel trapped shopping for hours with someone who's like the energizer bunny ! My closest friend in FL has MS too so she understands. My dh and sons are pretty good about giving me time when I don't feel like talking. Actually, I don't give them much choice, LOL.

Before MS, I loved my job! I loved being around people and as a matter of fact, My dh and I used to do a lot of entertaining and Bon Fires on the weekend.

Now I too am on disability and at home most of the time and I really love my solitude.

I can do what I want, when I want and I don't have to entertain or please any one.

When we do go out or have people over now it feels special

I like people, don't get me wrong....but by the time you reach my age (44) you've been through the ringer. The days of youthful bliss have passed as the realities of life wage war against you. I put up walls to avoid unneccassary pain and hardship. I like my time in the house surrounded by my family....and go out ocassionally to have a bit of fun. Time at work gives me all the contact with people I need!

Good question Kelly!!

Ive been thinking about my reply to this thread. and come Sept., I
wil experience daily solitude for the first time in 18 years. My oldest
will go off to college and my youngest will start kindergarten.

Ill let you know then if I like solitude. I expect to have very mixed emotions.

I like equal amounts of alone time and company.

Often though, I prefer more alone time. I recharge myself when I'm alone it seems. I was the youngest of six kids and often left to fend for myself, so I guess I adjusted to it. I always enjoyed visiting friends though. I didn't like to be with them constantly though.

I like being at the office alone to work, but like it when customers come in.

I love the GTG's. But it's nice that I can participate here from my solitary spot at the computer.

Don't fret, Sox, I have a sneaking suspicion that those days will fly by as you discover all the new opportunities to use that time. Your biggest worry will be to get home/finished before you hear that bus coming.

I've been staying home/inside very near the main areas this past week because my dad (86) has pneumonia. I have to say that even this relatively minor shift in my solitude has me all discombobulated. LOL, I think I'm a curmudgeon in the making!
