A song that runs through my mind every once in awhile and relaxes me is Sentimental Journey by Dorris Day. I know I am not old enough to remember when it was popular but I had to sing it for a school talent show and fell in love. It takes me back to 8th grade when life was so much easier. *sigh*
Gonna take a Sentimental Journey, Gonna set my heart at ease. Gonna make a Sentimental Journey, to renew old memories. Got my bags, got my reservations, Spent each dime I could afford. Like a child in wild anticipation, I Long to hear that, "All aboard!" Seven...that's the time we leave at seven. I'll be waitin' up at heaven, Countin' every mile of railroad track, that takes me back. Never thought my heart could be so yearny. Why did I decide to roam? Gotta take that Sentimental Journey, Sentimental Journey home. Sentimental Journey. What about you? What song plays in your mind from time to time and relaxes you? .

Suzanne takes you down to her place by the river
You can hear the boats go by You can spend the night beside her And you know that she's half crazy But that's why you want to be there And she feeds you tea and oranges That come all the way from China And just when you want to tell her That you have no love to give her Then she gets you on her wavelength And she lets the river answer That you've always been her lover And you want to travel with her And you want to travel blind And you know that she will trust you For you've touched her perfect body with your mind. Leonard Cohen... but I've always been partial to Judy Collins' version.

moonlight serenade no words just emotional music i could slow dance to that forever, and yes i hum it a lot
song i sing a lot is cabin on the hill by flat and scruggs There's a happy childhood home in my memory I can see Standing out upon the hill 'neath the shadow of the tree If I only had my way it would give my heart a thrill Just to simply wander back to the cabin on the hill. Oh I want to wander back to the cabin on the hill 'Neath the shadow of the tree I would like to linger still Just to be with those I love joy my heart would over fill Just to simply wander back to the cabin on the hill But the saddest of it all I can never more return To that happy childhood home matters not how much I yearn If I only had my way it would give my heart a thrill Just to simply wander back to the cabin on the hill my dad was from TENN played it a lot when I was a kid its an old memory this and paper doll by the mills brothers both songs bring me back to a day long gone SAndy, Deb was going through my music files the other day on PC and played that song, thats dinah shore if i am correct she had a beautiful voice, hmm will have to double check it may be doris on my pc and i am just thinking of dinah shore

My life seems to be about music, so there are too many to mention, but two come to mind:
"Glow Worm" - don't know who performed it, but when I was a kid my grandfather liked that song and always requested it when I was playing the piano or my clarinet. I hardly ever hear it, but when I do, it sends chills up my spine. And the other: Whenever "He'll Have to Go" came on the radio, my mother would stop what she was doing and sing harmony with Jim Reeves. I can still picture her, holding her dish towel, leaning against the big old white kitchen sink, head back and eyes closed, "and you can tell your friend there with you, he'll have to go...." If I hear that song without advance warning (and sometimes with) I'll just start sobbing. It was so Mom.

'You Are My Sunshine' . I used to sing it to my boys when they were little and still thought I was the greatest mom in the world, LOL.
