AYUP, have been keeping a journal for many, many years. I have found them to be quite handy, esp when I want to look up a specific date or event.

I just grab my journals and there it is in black and white. *or blue*

I find it extremely therapeutic.

I write about Sal, too and sometimes I beat AMN up in them. Oh, so much fun!

Nope - no journal here - would have required taking pen in hand and actually thinking and writing - now in the days of computers and spell check it would be easier but now I am all thought out - tired too -

I've kept journals for years & years. It's quite the production when I start a new one ~ I have to find just the right journal, just the right pen to start..Never kept one online. I'm not paranoid, it just seems so impersonal to me ~ though however one does it, it's good for the soul. Every once in awhile I'll read thru one done when my kids were little. It's fun to relive some of that. I get all the negative stuff out in a separate journal, usually a black one with skull & crossbones..

Same here! Starting a new book is practically an event for me. I have one kind that I particularly like so I just get another one of those. Then, what color ink shall it be? I love opening the crispy new paper and all that stuff.

I have done several bad news journals, I write them all by hand until there is nothing left to say on the matter, then I pitch it in a sort of cleansing ceremony. It's helpful to me to make a tangible act of eliminating the negative.

There is just something therapeutic in the physical act of writing itself for me. I have always loved to write and I rarely cared about a topic, just give me the paper and let me at it.

I do with pen and paper--always that special new notebook
A little on the computer.
And some blogging on-line, some I allow friends and family to see, some I set to private.

It's therapeutic, get's some of the clouds out from over me...I've been writing since before I was a teenager ...

I'm a little unabashed and unashamed about sharing some of my feelings, my 'rents read through my diary when I was 15/16. *ugh* After that point, I figured I had nothing to lose in baring the soul through my words....

I've been journaling since college. It was a requirement in english comp to start a journal, with an entry for every day of the semester. After that I was hooked.

For me, its therapeutic to pour all of my thoughts and feelings onto the page, celebrating the positives in my life and putting the negatives on the shelf where they belong. I write about vacations, memorable moments, my friends and family.......the good and the bad. I just roll with whatever comes to mind at the time.

Cindy and PolarExpress- Starting a new book is an event for me, too. Not one of my journal covers are alike, but I always use the same brand and style pen.

Occasionally I will "journal" my thoughts but not on a regular basis. More often, I do it when I am stressed or worried about something. I write it all down and then tear it up and know that in the a.m. I will have a new perspective on things.

For years I kept basically a prayer type journal. Every night, I would write a letter to God writing about what ever came to mind. I have often thought of starting that up again as it was a great opportunity to stop, think, listen, and have a "conversation" with God.

Yep yep!

Similiar to Blues Girl, I had to keep a journal for an English class in *cough* community college. I said similiar! Took awile to get the ball rolling but once it did, I couldn't stop. Have been doing it on and off for 8 years.

Can't stress enough how therapuetic it was for me. I'd start writing and all the angst and whatever else in my head would come pouring out. Many times my hand couldn't keep up with my head.

AND! My teacher was pushing me to get it published. That never worked out. She thought it was incredibly funny.

I considered it an exorcism.

Now I blog a little but most of it goes on paper.

Incredible stress reliever for me and sharpens my memory as well.
