Default Warning! The sky is falling!

At about 9:30 am CST, or in about 1-1/2 hours, the European Space Agency is bringing down their first ATV (Automated Transfer Vehicle), their unmanned internation space station resupply rocket.

They say 70% of the rocket will burn up in the atmosphere, but that some components, ranging from 10 kg to 100 kg, will hit the planet. They're targeting the south pacific ocean.

Let's just hope they done calculated their de-orbit burns right... It is their first time...

Thanks for the updates Tom, we really enjoy them here in Maine!

Can't wait for some clear skies - we can see the ISS going over at night at a reasonable time!!!

Shades of SKYLAB!

Ditto what Yabbit said, Tom. I look forward to your posts, and I look up every night at work because of them!

Big Tom, couldn't you have had them aim for my yard? Moose short on cash and I could sell a chunk on the eBay!

Sincerely,

Uh, Tom, in the future, could you do something about clearing the skies over here first, please?
