Seriously? What area is this in? I live in Eastern Canada and we have Dr. Pepper here (and Diet Dr. Pepper).

Where I live, it's always been pop. My ex was from NY and always laughed when I would ask for pop and asked me if I meant soda. :D

I don't use either term...I ask for what I want by name. I don't drink, coke or any other caffeinated products, except coffee at times. I usually drink tea if we go out, otherwise I ask for lemonade.

I drink sierra mist and when I ask DH to get me a drink...I say 'sierra mist'.
Guess I have this weird thing going on, never really thought about it. lol

I said Soda....Is 7-up Soda?

dmplaura 09-24-2008 05:45 PM

Ginger Ale was in it's own 'category'. That's what Mom gave me, flat, for my upset tummy when I was a little girl :)

If we ask for Coke here, that's exactly what you get...Coca Cola.

Lemonade is just that, and if you want a can of (say) lime soda or pop, then you ask for a can of lime cordial. Easy!

I've seen Dr. Pepper occasionally on the East Coast but not all over.

LOL The other conversation is: Coke. Waitress goes, "Uh huh." scribbles madly and then says, "Pepsi?" Response is given, "No. Mountain Dew?"

I've occasionally gotten back, "That's not Pepsi!" My response, "Right."

How funny you should mention that. In Wales, FG ordered a "Lemonade" as she doesn't drink carbonated stuff. They brought out a glass of clear stuff that had bubbles in it but no lemons. Tasted it and found out it was Sprite. Weird. I've never heard Sprite called Lemonade before. And I've NEVER heard it called lime cordial.

I had some interesting food terminology issues in Wales. Eating's much more difficult than you think in a different country. LOL

Yep! Sprite's classed as lemonade here.

Basically if you want a lemon drink without bubbles then you'd probably have to mix it yourself using a syrup and mineral water (or similar).

There may be flat drinks available but I think you'd have to go for mineral waters with flavourings to get them.
