Kelly we had chili last week, dogs had the rest of it over their dinner tonight. Yeah, even the dogs eat good around here!

Mmmmm...... chili! That sounds really good. I haven't had that in forever.

The Moosewood Cookbook had a really good recipe for vegetarian chili that I made a couple times a few years ago. But I like regular chili too with meat. It's amazing how you can change the taste with different beans and different meat. I like making it with chicken breast occasionally. Makes it a nice change of pace.

My grandmother used to make this certain kind of chili and she'd put white rice in it. It was the best tasting stuff....I wish I had gotten the recipe for it. I haven't found anything like it in any cookbook.

Maybe I should just add a package of Success Rice to my chili and see if it resembles hers!

It's hunting season around here. Time for venison or elk chili! Yum.

2 Schwan's toaster?
..small vegie pizza (schwans)?
One 100 Cal, schwan's chocky supreme ice cream?
schwans brownie/ice cream?

Am I missing something here, or is my foreign slip showing?

I see Schwan mentioned so many times that I'm wondering if it's pure and simple decadence .... or whether it's a version of weight watchers.

Just make it in the crock pot (brown the meat first) and add the rice in the beginning. It'll be done when you're ready to eat. Otherwise, make the rice separately and put the chili with it. And have you ever tried putting a piece of American cheese over top and mixing it in? Yum!!

See, Koala, you're thinking food terminology and my mind immediately goes into the gutter when I see Schwan's--and I KNOW what it is. It's a brand name. And somehow that statement makes my gutter mind thought humorous to me.

Schwan's is a national food delivery company. They have these yellow trucks that sell food door-to-door, or you can order from them and have it sent to you.

Here's a link to their website. http://www.schwans.com/

They have relatively good food, convenient, and mostly friendly sales people. They sometimes tend to get a bit pushy as they work on commission!!

I've never encountered the "pushy" from Schwans. I order from their website every two weeks and the delivery guy delivers it and puts it all neatly in my freezer. I guess they don't have to sell me...I'm already sold..

I haven't either. I've just heard about them from a neighbor. The truck is here 2 or 3 times a week. I don't buy from them as some of their products contain MSG...something I am allergic to!
