Hey Char and Cheryl.........

Steel-cut oats start with the whole grain--meaning the unadulterated bran, germ and endosperm, where all the nutrition is--then are cut into small pieces with steel blades and left unrolled so they look like little nubs of brown rice.

No...I didn't know this before. I googled it!!

So what's the point? Oatmeal is oatmeal, right? Does this process make it taste like rice? If so...blech!

Or just make is more expensive....

I have no idea. I'll eat oatmeal if it's the slow cooked kind with lots of butter and sugar on it and oh yeah.....raisins cooked in it. It's really not healthy anymore after I've doctored it up!!

You guys are way too healthy for me. Yesterday -

Breakfast - chorizo/egg/cheese burrito from Tornado Taco

Lunch - snacked on leftover fried chicken from a mexican roach coach and a big sausage

Dinner - rib eye steak, baked potato, salad, and those skinny pencil shaped green things my wife makes me eat

Tom

Breakfast/lunch:

1/2 a ham & cheese sub without condiments
1 cup of coffee
1 glass of water

I'm stuffed. I'll probably have a banana and a baked acorn squash or delicata squash for dinner with some pine nuts and a bit of butter. Maybe even cut up an apple in there and bake it with it. Or maybe cut up tomatoes, jalapeno, a patty pan squash, pine nuts, and some onion and bake it in there. Don't know..... I have stuff to get rid of.

Last night I had acorn squash for dinner. It was yummy. Breakfast was a bagel with one fried egg, jalapeno peppers, and swiss cheese. I was really full so didn't eat until dinner. Oh.... had white corn chips and salsa as a snack whilst watching my football team lose.

And I LOVE regular cooked oatmeal with walnuts and raisins. Sometimes I'll put a little 1/2 and 1/2 over it or milk (depends on what I have) and savor it. Makes a great breakfast or a great dinner.

I love Bolton Farm Green Goodness juice. It's expensive, but you don't need a lot of it. Oh boy!

And organic french vanilla yogurt (Stonybrook Farms) and granola (organic usually--not hyped up with sweet stuff however) with fruit and nuts in it is AWESOME as breakfast food.

Tom I was thinking a whole apple crisp wasn't too healthy! and your meals sure sound good to me!

cherry / strawberry margarita sounds good to me! I would even use fresh fruit if I had some!

I made a pot of chili!! I've wanted it for weeks and it's been too hot outside to have it. So...today it's 75 degrees so we'll just turn the A/C way down and pretend it's winter!!
