Twink, Sorry I did not respond to this earlier. I know it is difficult to think about losing a parent regardless of their age. Sending out my prayers and hugs for you, your dad, and your family.

So sorry Twinks about your Dad. I sincerely hope he continues to be pain free. Just be there for him. Those of us that have lost our parents know exactly what you are going thru. Thinking of you. Take care of yourself too.

Twink,
So sorry to read this about your dad...

It's a blessing that you've had your dad so long...and that he's had you!!

My dad died of a heart attack when I was 17...as I grew older, I learned to love and understand him more.

When my mom was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer 3 yrs later, we found out that she'd been coughing up blood for months...we saw that she'd been losing weight, but thought that she was counting calories.
In my heart, after she passed, I had a sneaking suspicion that she knew how sick she was, but didn't want to go to the doc. She missed my dad and didn't have much of a life after he passed.
When we were told that she had 6 months left to live, she said she didn't want to be a burden. She passed away a few days later...
it was so shocking, but she was taking care of us to the end. She gave up so that we didn't have to watch her suffer...the doc said it would have been a slow painful death...

just make sure that you hug your dear dad every day and let him know how much you feel blessed by having him as your dad...
I didn't get the chance. Make sure you do.

((((((Twink and her dad)))))

i'm so sorry about this news twink.
you're so right in that i've been down this road too, with both my parents.

somehow the older folks take death in stride.
altho i always felt my dad would go on forever.

it was heartwarming that my family and parents were all on the same page and respecting their wishes was also our fervent wish.

blessings to you and your dad, and your family.

I can't thank you all enough. I know that many of you know exactly what I'm having to deal with. God bless you all.
Ro, that's exactly what happened with my dad. He'd been sick for a few weeks, never said a word to anyone about it. When he finally went to the doc, he was diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer. He knew there was nothing that could be done and didn't want to go through chemo. I am just thankful that I was able to spend the last 10 days of his life with him. I cherish those days.

I think the place you've chosen for the family photo is gorgeous.

Oh Rochelle, I'm so sorry . . My mom was just 65 when she got her dx. She had the chemo and radiation because none of us could get a straight answer from her doctors about whether it would help her in the long run. I don't think she wanted it but did it for us. In hindsight, I wish she hadn't opted for chemo because it made what time she had left miserable. We tried to keep her at home as long as possible but it became way to hard for my dad and me. I'll be praying hard for all of you . I know how hard this is for you. You will be in my thoughts.
