Body Worlds is in Salt Lake City for another few weeks. I can't get my DH to go see it with me. Or my BFF. It's a 2 hour drive and I hear its getting hard to get tickets.
Anybody wanna go with me? Check out this 3 min. video: http://theleonardo.org/bodyworlds/index.php (wait about 20 seconds for it to automatically start). Warning: video shows actual plasticized human bodies without the skin. Intriguing to some, disturbing to others.

I'd love to go (wish I lived closer)!!
I've heard about this....they either had an exhibit like this one somewhere here in Atlanta or were going to...I don't know which. But this is very interesting to me (not disturbing at all) and I'd love to be able to go. I looked up the Body Worlds website and it's just fascinating.....

Absolutely go! It was fascinating. Greta, her husband, and I went to it when they were visiting me before she went to Italy.
It's a little weird at first, but it's really cool and you get kind of clinical. Plus, there are always "danglies" to point and go "OMG!" at.

Looks fascinating Rochelle, and if I wasn't so dang busy right now, I'd meet you there! Haven't been on the boards much lately.
1) Get my first grandbaby boy in a few weeks 2) Youngest leaves on a mission on Dec. 17th (so I will be heading to Provo for at least a day - but it will be a one day deal!) 3) Just got back from a southern caribbean cruise that kept me away for 10 days. 4) New calling in church - stake Primary - and have had all the dang scout training, and then leadership meeting to prepare for. 5) First of the year at work is crazy! Okay, so now you know where I've been hiding! I would like to make it to SLC to see some Christmas plays - but alas, that won't happen either since I still have the missionary to get ready. I'm going to meet you sometime, though. I'd say let's plan something in January, but grandbaby girl is due then! And once I get those grandbabies, I may never leave home again

I may be in the minority here, but I don't think I'd want to get any closer to it than the video. It was interesting, but I'd probably have night terrors after seeing it in person. However, w/that being said~ I think it's an amazing exhibit, but not for this touchy tummy! Let us know if you go Twinks and what you thought of it.

Absolutely, it was fascinating. I went a few years ago with a friend in Tampa, FL, when we were there visiting. The only thing wrong was that the exhibit was too crowded. I was in a wheelchair, and people kept pushing in front of me to see. So, Julie would wait a minute, say "excuse us", and try to push me past these rude people. Then, her arms got tired, I got tired, and we left before we'd seen everything.
I would go again in a minute, but at a time when it wasn't so crowded.

hey Twink ... I'm highly considering donating my body .. .brain to it ... so they can see how the disease worked ... compared to a good brain ... and then have it in slices ...
I think that this is too cool ... at least I'd still be travelling after I'm gone!! (you know me, can't sit still in one place for too long! this would be a perfect opportunity for me!) ... hmmm, do I apply now???

I went to it when it was in DC...I could have stayed for hours...always fascinated by the way the body is put together...muscles, nerves, tendons, arteries...etc.
Wish I could go with you...

At first I was all gung-ho, but watching the video does make me wonder.
But ... I've been curious about the inner workings of the body for years. I mean, our bodies are such a miraculous and amazing gift, even those that don't work so well. Maybe it will help me realize I need to quit eating so much and take better care of my bod. You know, exercise and eat healthy. Stuff I've heard for years, but need to actually DO. So I think I'll go if I can. I need to call my son's former gal-friend of 10+ years ago. She lives up there and said she'd go with me. Kelly, Atlanta is where my daughter saw the exhibit a few years ago. She actually won the trip through a HOSA competition during her early nursing training. She'll graduate from RN Nursing school in 2.5 weeks! Woohoo! So proud!
