I'm just beside myself in disbelief, shock and sorrow.
My ex boyfriend has been giving me updates to this situation for several days, but essentially what happened was his brother (age 34) went to meet his fiancee at her work. He didn't have a car, but he rode his bike everywhere. So he rode his bike to her work, locked it up, and collapsed. He was without oxygen to his brain for, what they suspect, 30 minutes. So they rushed him in and he was on life support basically. Basically brain dead, and they had no clue what had happened at first. Why does an otherwise healthy 34 year old male just suddenly drop on the ground? He was 'fit' and athletic. So he was virtually a vegetable, and they had no answers. They were waiting on Monday to hear the prognosis for recovery, when his brother's brain began to swell. It was then that they decided to remove him from life support (the doctors had pretty much said the situation at this point was grim). They also finally had the answer. This is what killed his brother: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrhyth...ular_dysplasia I've been crying since I heard the news. I called my parents to let them know as well. My ex will now need to go through a bunch of tests to see if he may also have this. His Mom (Dad is a deadbeat) is like family to me, as you can imagine. I was with my ex for 7 years, so I got to know his family well. Would a donation to the Heart and Stroke foundation be most appropriate for this condition?
