Default I'm sooo in the doghouse!!

or maybe I should say 'cathouse', lol. This morning I heard a cat meowing, which is nothing unusual since I have 4 cats. Well....this wasn't one of my kitties . There was a young (about 4 mos) cat at my front door crying away! She was very, very thin . Naturally, I broke out the Fancy Feast and she ate the whole can in about a minute. I called the vet and made an appointment for 4:30 today. He checked her for a microchip but she didn't have one . I have to keep her isolated from the other cats until her tests come back tomorrow. I called dh to break this news to him because he absolutely, positively did not want another furbaby. My son named her Aura and she will be spayed as soon as she reaches a healthy weight . Now I'll be getting the cold shoulder from 'the husband' for a while. He'll get over it. He always does . I must be completely insane.

Geez, with 4 cats already, would DH have even noticed the new one if you hadn't mentioned it?

You're a good person to take in another animal without a moment's hesitation.

I agree with Frank, once they have a name, it's game over.

Soul Sista!! I, too, have the invisible "S", stands for "Sucker", branded on my forhead. Only furry creatures can see it as it beams its signal across the heavens, calling them all to my front door..
I have four cats and a dog and almost fell victim to a small, thin black kitty who literally ran into my arms last fall. Bless you for taking the little one in. I feel for your husband but, really, unless he's discovered a way to herd cats, they'd be almost impossible to count ..

Betweem college years my oldest daughter worked at a pet store. They liked each assosiate to be an expert on one particular animal and since they recently had an employee who was the sugar glider expert quit, this job was kind of handed over to my daughter. She very quickly learned about this little animal and sold many of them. Of course we bought a female. One day someone called the store asking to speak to the sugar glider expert, he had a male and all of the cage and equipment that he wanted to give her! So now we had a bredding pair! Those little boogers like to get it on.

Another one of the policies at the store was that if anyone had stray or injured animals just to bring them in and some employee would take them home and nurse them back to health. There are an awful lot of orphaned baby rabbits from lawn mower accidents. So we hand fed a lot of baby rabbits! We also had baby birds that fell out of trees. That didn't work out as well. You can nurse them only so far but you can't trach them how to fly.

As she sold her sugar gliders, some of the owners wanted her to take the babies home and train them before they took possesion of them.

We even had several domeestic rabbits. Did you know that some people actually try to potty train theur domestic rabbits? Trust me, it doesn't work. All in all we had about 50 different animals that summer. That was in addition to the two snakes that she bought and our own dog.

Buddy was a Shelty. He would be so funny when the baby rabbits would get out of thier cage. He wouldn't stop until he had them all herded back where they belonged!

Of course she kept her own sugar gliders but she went back to school. Where did the sugar gliders go? No, they didn't go back to school, Mom and little sister took care of them. They pop out an average of 3 babys a year and they seel for anywhere from $100 to $250 a piece according to where the market it. That breeder pair made 'her' a lot of money. But they were fun.....if you could train them. untrained and they are a nightmare.

After Buddy died we waited until my husband felt ready, I was immediately ready, to get another pet. I wanted a cat. So several years ago my youngest daughter bought me a cat from the local humane society for Mothers day. Adora is the love of out life, she just doesn't like our grandchidren
