Hi Beary,

My best trick is caffeine, caffeine, and more caffeine. When that's not enough, my guilt usually does the trick. However, since I inject Avonex on Friday nights and don't feel so hot on Saturdays, I give myself permision, guilt-free for the most part, to do nothing but relax, sleep, and read. Word Nerd here! The one thing I make myself do on Saturdays is wash the sweat-soaked sheets from Injection Night. As long as I do that, I'm fine. I also have the support of my husband on taking Saturdays easy.

When I have a million errands to run, I always plan them a week in advance to do after work. That helps a lot too. This way I don't dread things, or make myself guilty in advance!

Sally, you are too funny. Curious, you may have something with the crowbar!

Seriously though, thanks to all of you for your suggestions and most of all, for being able to commiserate. At least I know I'm in excellent company!

I make lots of lists. In fact, just today I came across a few "to do" lists from 2007. As for caffeine, I could drink coffee just before going to bed and it usually wouldn't prevent me from sleeping!

I know this is mostly a state of mind and for most of us there are good days and bad days. I can't even say this is definitely MS related or sure if it's fatigue -- it feels a little more like lethargy. (Although I do wonder if it's possibly attributable to low vitamin D as deficiency can cause fatigue and/or depression.)

I think I just needed someone to tell me to snap out of it! I and others like me need all the verbal crowbarring we can get! Is this like a Buttsticker club? Buttstucker? Sticky Butts? Any other ideas?

I got a few things done today (do I get a gold star, DM? ) and of course, now my butt is stuck to my bed again -- but that's okay since I'm winding down for the evening!

i'm a list maker too. i like to make a list of things to be done and cross them off when it's accomplished. i know i won't get to it all and the next day i make another list. once it took me almost 2 wks to get everything done; appts, errands etc.

i've also learned that just starting something is the key.

and, i use stickers on my calendar. i vowed to walk on my dreadmill everyday. when i've done it i put a sticker on my calendar. somehow i can't live without seeing it up there. i'm just not complete if the day is "blank". it's a stupid motivation but it works.

Have you tried Provigil or any other anti-fatigue drug? I can sleep with coffee, too, but Provigil usually can keep me up.

Bearyola,

Just let your butt stick to the bed when you feel like it. Give yourself a break and have a do nothing day.

Hugs,
Beckyola

Beary, I think it was just a crappy week. I felt like I was teetering on the edge of relapse. Feeling all those old nasty sensations creeping back. Not a good scene!

But I got done what needed to be done this week, and now I can relax a bit.

I agree, sometimes you just need the 'mental health day' to chill out and put everything into perspective.

Every time I log on and see this thread, I laugh and feel guilty. My butt is stuck to my sofa, all the time, every day, every minute..

Butt.......I get things done. Today, I did my Tax return and the good news is, I don't owe any taxes.....the bad news is, I don't owe any taxes.(meaning, my interest income was about half of last years).

I have to remind myself to get up and stretch...move around...get the blood circulating. Sometimes if I sit too long, I can't get up very easily...takes awhile..

I do some of my best work on my Butt....no, none of that..

I hope you do something great for YOU!

Default Push came to shove...ME!

Belated thanks to everyone who replied. I knew so many of you here would understand, whether or not it's MS related -- and who knows? Maybe it is and I'm so used to it I can't tell the difference. hollym, I'm not there yet but thanks for suggesting Provigil. I think I tend to think non-drug so much that I sometimes forget that there could be something out there that can help if I need it.

So my butt got unstuck but not without a struggle. I really had no choice because I had to get taxes done and prepare to go out of town -- I guess that's what it took. Push came to shove and it shoved me right off of my butt!
