Default stepping deeper into the tech world!

I am enthralled by the technology world but a little afraid of it. I have voiced my veiws on cell phones before. I think they are an intrusion of peoples privacy. I have the basic tracphone. Well today I upgraded my tracphone to one with a camera on it! It's still a tracphone and I probably won't have it turned on much but it does have a camera now. I even tried it out by taking a pic of my TV and sending it to my daughter!

I have a feature with my WOW bundle that gives me ability to make a conference call. I have been wondering how I can help my Mom with her phone billds. Her last bill was $45 just because of all the long distance calls she makes. So I tried out my conference call tonight and it worked!!!!!! Of course here I am listening to a phone call of my Mom and someone else. So I just put it on speakerphone and set the phone on my shoulder. I love it when the cat goes crazy. She hears these voices coming from my shoulder and she can't find out where they are coming from. But my Mom got to make her call!

So I am proud of myself today!

I love technology, but I only tend to use what I find useful. I don't see a need to live on my cell although I've had one since '96. Won't leave home ithout, for safety's sake, but rarely make a call on it.

Glad you mom is taking to it so well. It took me years to get it through to my mom that you can call a cell from a *regular* phome, lol!

Have fun with the camera. Now that comes in handy.

my husband still yells "do I need to dial a one and the area code to call a cell phone?" now, he has been yelling this for 6 years. He just cant get it.

I recently installed Skype on my home computer, and set him up to talk to his cousins, and aunts in Italy. The cousins over there set it up in mommas house. Its been awesome to have the FIL go over to the computer and talk to his brother that he hasnt seen in decades. the tears, and the love...just touching!

I finally got my mom a trac phone to carry on the road with her. she has post polio and if she ran off into a ditch or had a flat, there is no way she can change it. It gives me peice of mind to know ANY cell phone can call 911, even if they have NO plan or minutes on a plan left. As long as its charged, it can call 911.

Way to go!
