I was too young and I don't remember!
I think if you ask Flygirl she'll know cause she was in the same place (the Philippines) and I'll bet she ate it too!

Sea kittens NOT. I don't like my seafood with fur! That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in awhile.
We have a bunch of wild turkeys that live around here. Often, we have to stop and wait while 20 or so cross the street. My DH started naming them....Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, Sunday.... Yum

I think PETA goes to far. Even the bible gives us permission to EAT the animals! I have ZERO intention of giving up Fish, beef, chicken, veal, venison, or any of the other exotic meats my hubby drags home. We have eaten everything from Aligator to Zebra. We live close to nature, and respect her. We grow our own food, and have every right to eat as God intended.
I just love that they had a fit at Obama for swatting at a fly. HAHAHAA.

When DH's cousin questioned my tasting veal bologna at a deli (yes I know how veal is made, but I had 2 year olds to feed and it was delicious) I pulled my own cause out and told him to use his time and energy to worry about hungry and abused children close to our homes. I went home and write to "Dear Editor" of local paper on same subject and they printed it. I know terrible stories of neglect and child abuse in homes you would think of and homes you would not, that takes my energy, not animals. I can't save everything, so I concentrate.

I just had this same discussion with our new pastor. my old church was all about sending money to this country or that country, which dont get me wrong, its great, but dangit, we have MANY hungry children right here at home! You dont have to leave your own city to find, and feed hungry children.
My husband belongs to a group of hunters that donates venison to the homeless shelters, and we show up at least once a month now to ladle out the food. Its just silly to not eat meat because the animal was a cute round face dark eyed cutie pie. This is why we didnt name our animals on the farm when I was growing up. If you name them, you get attached. We could chose names like Dinner, lunch, or easter, and christmas, and that kept us on track that this animals lives so we can eat. end of story. We always gave thanks to and for that animal at the dinner table, and were grateful that we had meat to eat. We never forgot an animal died so we can live. There are many good projects that PETA does, like the over crowding of chicken coups in many factory type settings. Stopping animal testing of cosmetics, and so on, but sometimes, they go too far.

There are things that are bad, treatment of livestock, etc. for PETA and others to concentrate on. I (when I could) did homework time/tutoring and a snack with homeless children. The soup kitchen was right across from us and a once homeless/now employee man proudly came out to give my 5 year olds apples. Even at that age they realized acceptance was only choice as this was a gift to honor, though fruit was always hard for Mom to get into them (now Oreos..) So they finally ate some fruit without me pushing it!!! For awhile a previously homeless girl who ended up in our NJ town and school and lived way cross town, was driven home by us most days. Lot of sad stories there. I had a neighbor who "fostered" third world children here in US for medical stuff. She had con-joined twin girl babies from Costa Rica, 1st to be successfully separated in a NJ hospital. That's the only time I've ever seen con-joined twins. But there are kids in US needing medical care too.

DH couldn't resist saying Pussies of the Sea (Or low bay) Like the blind man who tips his hat as he walks past the fish counter and says "hello Ladies", (what can I say my friend (a guy)managed a fish counter).
Sorry, sorry sorry. But did PETA think this through?
