Thanks, Cyn for sharing your views. I am in agreement with most of them. I am a Democrat living in a predominently Republican area, so I know what you're saying. I was raised to give back, too and it's really hard to understand why that is a bad thing. This is a strange selfish era, we are living in now.

I think that a one payer Health Care Policy is the best.....but it won't happen in these times.

Health Costs keep soaring Insurance up 131% since '99, eclipses rate of pay, inflation.

http://www.azcentral.com/news/articl....html#comments

When people are sick and do not have insurance, they go to the ER. In turn, the hospitals pass the price to you.

If the uninsured were part of a public system, they'd be going to a PCP office, seeing a NP or PA for routine ailments, not the ER. That alone would save $$. Further, many uninsured do have jobs but can't afford private ins., so they too go to the ER. They could pay for some/most of their tab, but don't have to, so often don't. A public ins opt would tap them for what they could afford.

The former head of Cigna, have you heard what he is saying about health care without a public option?

Government does a good job with Medicare, Medicaid, Veteran's. Reading the beginning of this thread will tell you this. Many posts are from real experiences. I did not see one that said their free medical was terrible.

My insurance is good but given the opportunity to make money rather than spend money on me, I am sure the bottom line is to make a profit not pay.

Trigeminal Neurologia has reared its ugly head. We pay $200/month and a co-pay of $25. Oh yeah, if I stay in the hospital what will insurance decide NOT to pay? Do I know in advance? no, I will just be responsible unless I go along and just pay rather than FIGHT.

I am PRAYING for the public option.

I am a religious person and I was raised to try to fix the world. When the boy scouts of my neighborhood come around for food, we go shopping to give them a huge bag of groceries. I make sure my gently used clothes go to Salvation Army. The Christmas spirit should apply to health care IMHO.

I don't want my money going to a bonus to an insurance CEO for making profits on health care. This is health care gone completely wrong, capitalism warped into a monster.

If I had my way, we would be a single payer society. One that makes sure that ALL citizens get the care needed. Who says it will change the quality of your care? How reliable is the source?

RAISE my taxes and cover everyone. I am paying my insurance company and some fat cat CEO. A bonus of $100 million? No one is worth that when draining my pocket of income.

Ok, off my soap box for now. The headline in my local paper had me going again.
Who has free medical? Just curious.

sorry but as I have repeatedly asked for this thread not to be used for party politics, it is being locked now.

my apologies and thanks to those who have attempted to keep it on the very important issue of health care without becoming party political.
